Question about my immature FSIL

Original post by Eckymecky

should i delete her as a friend off of my myspace. me and FH were seriously considering deleting our whole pages b/c we don't need this garbage from anyone. i'd rather her not have access to what's going on in my life.

i really feel that yesterday was a way of her saying ' you think my blog was bad, watch this'...and then posted that awful bulletin to EVERYONE but had addressed it to me and FH. i really think it's become like a power or control issue. like she's saying just think of what i might do next to piss you off.

but do you think deleting her would only fuel the fire even more? i just don't want her to have access to my page...where she can check up on me and see stuff about the wedding. but since i have a lot of OOT long time friends that i want to stay in touch with..i rely on my myspace for a lot...and i don't want to totally give it up. what do you guys think?

Hey girlie...
listen...fh and I deleted our myspace pages because of exact reasons.... its better to not flaunt everything because at times it looks like you are trying to prove to everyone else that youre happy...and even if youre not, they will still find ways to hurt you...

What i did was make a myspace page with a picture of like, a disney character, and only invited those friends I wanted to view the page. I used a DIFFERENT name (through YAHOO) and put my 'name' as a random name (my bff said to make it my 'porn name' first pet and street you live on')

So, i have control of who views my page... only acouple of friends on there but its helped the drama!

It is definitely is a power trip on her part and by feeding into it shes gona continue...

Sweetie, stop stressing over this!!!!

You can delete her as a friend, you can delete your myspace page, but do you REALLY think that's going to keep her from finding stuff out about the wedding? She's your FH's sister...of course she's going to know what's going on not only with your wedding, but with your life too.

I know in a perfect world, we would all like to believe that when we get married, we will all blend into this new family with no problems and everyone will love us. Truth is, as much as we would like everyone to like/love us, it's not going to happen.

FH's two sisters and me can't stand each other. We don't pretend to be best friends at family functions. We politely say hello to each other and we do our best to be respectful towards each other and that's fine. I've been in treatment for cancer since September -- I haven't received one card, email or phone call from them (although to be fair, they do ask FH how I am doing when he speaks to them) and that's OK.

if she doesn't approve of your marriage, that's her problem. It's not like you need her approval to get married anyway, right?

It's ok not to be one big happy family with your in-laws...you just have to find a way to peacefully co-exist and I don't think doing things like deleteing her as a friend is the way to do it.

Ignore her and let whatever she says bounce off of you. Eventually she'll get tired of talking about you!

do NOT delete her.... it will just add fuel to the fire TRUST ME .... im about to graduate as a psychologist

And do NOT post anything more on your page about the wedding... There are other ways to keep in touch with OOTers.... We did survive as a human race before the age of computers.... You will find that they're are plenty of ways to let friends know the details... For ex, make a wedding website that the sister wouldnt be able to gain access to... She doesnt even have to know about it!

i agree 1000000000000000000000%!!! she will know, laugh about it and find another way to bother you. Don't let her know she is bothering you!!!

and make sure she doesnt know about LIW, because i guarantee she'd probably be reeally enjoying herself knowing this is bugging you.

I wouldn't delete her. It takes you down to her level (or as close as you can be) and I think that would just give her more ammo to say crap about you. Just ignore her.

Delete her not your page....F her....don't change for anyone and let her see what you are doing because she is just jealous of you anyway.

Re: Question about my immature FSIL

ok i'm a little glad more people said no b/c while it was really tempting...i think it would just give her reason to find another way to attack us. thanks for the advice again..sorry to keep bringing it up (i swear i'm not trying to get attention or a pity party )

but you guys are right...once she finds out she probably will try and do something else...and i'm not ever really going to make the problem go away but i guess i should try to extinguish it as much as i can. it's just really hard for me to let this go (its soooo much easier said than done)...i'm a really emotional person (hello i'm a ny'er) and when people do bad things to me i don't let it go lightly.

Re: Question about my immature FSIL

Good choice. I'm the type of person who holds grudges about things and there are a few people on my bad side right now. I know how tempting it can be to stoop down to someone's level, but when you really step back from the situation and look at it rationally, that just means the other person got the best of you.

I think the best retaliation is to go about your wedding planning, be happy and enjoy yourself. You're getting married and she's not...ha ha! (ok so you can be a little immature in your own head)

There may be people out there who want to bring you down, but by showing them that they aren't getting to you they won't get any satisfaction.

You always have a sounding board to vent here.

Does she know about liweddings?

i doubt it. but i think i'll stop posting in these threads just in case. i don't want to give her any more ammo...

anyone can FM me if you think you can help (sounds like a lot of you have been through something similiar...otherwise it's probably best for me to stop posting 'publicly' like she has. i forget that anyone can view LIweddings without having to join. i realized this today when i went to reply to something and it asked me to log in...DOH!!

I wouldn't delete your page. Your just showing her that this is really upsetting you which sounds like what she is trying to do. Don't give her any satisfaction. Just ignore her. hth

I agree, i think that deleting her would give her what she wants, just ignore her, it may be hard tho.
