Question about my wedding

Hi everyone! I have been looking for a site where i can look for ideas for my wedding. The thing is, im not having a traditional wedding as my partner and i are having a reception here in NY. i didnt see much about gay weddings here on this site. If there is a reason why i dont belong here, please let me know... otherwise i am just looking for some advice and opinions. i dont have many friends that are planning a wedding right now, so it would be nice to have people to talk to. Hmmm...from my experience on this site, it does seem that most people on here are in heterosexual relationships however that certainly does not mean you cant get valuable tips and advice about the wedding in general. Although their are topics about relationships, most topics are about the wedding planning itself...many people arent having traditional weddings and I'm sure you can get some ideas. If there is something specific you are interested in getting some advice on, just ask. Good luck!

I don't think you being gay would be grounds for you not to be on this site.......You're planning a wedding just like the rest of us

What kind of ideas are you looking for? What are you envisioning?

Welcome to the site. You came to the right place for advice and ideas. There may not be a lot of info regarding gay weddings-but you can get more general information about planning your wedding. Congrats!

Thanks everyone! we are having our reception at Belle Verde, but we are only having 80 people. the hall recomended Rick C Entertainment for a DJ but i havent found any information on him in a search.
im also having a hard time finding invitations. are there actual places you can go look at them?

Congrats and Welcome!! I can't see why anyone would have a issue with this, you are just as excited as the rest of us!!

I booked with FM Entertainment and love them!!

You can definitly go and see invitations...I would recommend hitting a few wedding showcases, especially the expo's they have tons of vendors!!!

Hi! I think you will find this site useful regardless! You are still having a wedding, and just like everyone else on this site you need entertainment, food, flowers, invites, a photographer, etc. And we also post things about wedding guests, timelines, relationship issues (doesn't matter if you are heterosexual or homosexual, relationships are relationships!), and don't forget we all LOVE to see pictures of wedding items!

there are a TON of websites you can use for invitations. I used Weddingpaperdivas.com and i used InvitationConsultants.com. There is also mygatsby.com.

Congratulations and welcome! This site has tons of information, and a fantastic forum to post questions and look for advice on everything from wedding day vendors to family drama, and relationship advice. Regardless of who you are and who you are marrying, you still need help and support through this exciting but sometimes stressful time. This site is helpful for anyone planning a wedding, and you can find other people in your situation who are planning a similar type of event.

I haven't heard of the DJ you are looking into, but that doesn't mean he is not reputable. Ask him for references, and try to start a new thread asking for feedback on him. You could also ask for people to post the names of their DJ's.

There are several places to go to look at invitations, you can usually find them at any party store, like Party Cit y or Cedarhurst Paper. There is also a cute little store in Port Jeff Station called 'And I Quote', they have a great selection to look at as well. If you are looking for a decent invitation for a more reasonable price, you may be able to find one online. I went with exclusively weddings.com, and we could not be happier with what we purchased for the save the dates and for the wedding invites (and they threw in extra's for free!).

If you ever want to inquire more about something that someone posted. but you want to contact them directly, you can send forum mail, or FM, by clicking the person's username next to their post and then click on FM this uer. Good luck to you!

I also have not heard of the DJ that your hall recommended.
I'm using Entertainment Tonite for my DJ. For invitations.. have u decided what type you want? (pocketfold, gated, umm thats all i can think of right now lol)

I am not sure regarding the invitations. the wording will be a bit different, so maybe a fold out, and the first section can be on top? the inside will say:

my name
&
her name

Are Happy to announce the joyous beginning of our new lives together.

Please join us at our celebration of love and commitment

At
Belle Verde

but i am thinking of putting a nice quote frst or something... i dont know LOL

When I first joined I found the Bridal Reviews to be the most helpful. Because you actually got to see what the final products looked like and their experience with the vendor (good or bad).

Congrats on your upcoming wedding and warning this site gets very addictive.
