question about permanent french mani

how does it work.....

i want to get it for the wedding but

1) how long does it take and

2) how long does it last and

3) is it the type of thing i can get once and then keep getting filled for a while?

like my wedding is in june so could i get it done for my shower in april and then just keep getting it filled every week or two before the wedding and have it done 2 days before the wedding and it will still look perfect and beautiful or is it best to get the first permanent french set put on right before the wedding?

Re: question about permanent french mani

honestly, it depends on where you go.

the salons you see everywhere have forever french, where they use a WHITE tip, glue it on then fill it in with pink acrylic.

I go to a hair salon that has a nail tech in it (I love my girl) she builds my nails. she uses white acrylic and then fills in with pink. she does use tips sometimes.

building lasts the same as regular tips. but you change with each visit, the first time you'll get what she calls a double, then the second time you get a single (just a fill in) then after that a double, which is basically putting more white on to make the white thicker, then single, etc.
she always tells me I can go single, single, double.. but I like A LOT of white and I always trim my nails each visit. so i do single, double, single.

I know its really confusing to read.

where are you located? I go to in style in west islip. I'll actually be there tomorrow at 11:30.

Deneen is by appointment only.

Its not complicated at all. I always had them build mine. Most places out by me do both ways. And really you just need to get them filled every 2 weeks like regular acrylics. The only difference is that every few fills you have to get the white part added to cause as your nails grown the white part grows out.

Make sure they use non-yellowing powder. if they dont they will yellow in the sun and saltwater and then they look terrible.....I know from experience. If they use the non-yellowing powder they look great all the time.

Normally if you have short nails to begin with, they put a white tip on to start you off. then if you choose to keep them, you get the white acrylic when the tip grows out.
I alternate with mine too.. fill-in (single) and rebalance (double - they call it rebalance at my place)

Piper,

I live in NYC and have a GREAT girl.

My nails are perm frence and are Gel.

She 'gels' the white on, then I put my fingers in the blue light.

Then she 'gels' the pink and I do the same in the box.

It takes about 2 hours for the inital and willbe about $120.

My fill ins are just adding on and on and on and on. I dont like a lot of white, so I have to get both the white and pink done every time.

The best thing is that it can last up to 3 weeks looking pretty GOOD.

The second BEST thing is you walk out the salon with DRY nails.

Im on the upper east side and will be happy to tell you who does my nails. She is GREAT. First ave and 53rd.

you pay that much for gel??

my girl only charges $10 more... so for a single it'd be $35 and double is $40.
I had gels YEARS ago, and didn't like it as much. but I know a bunch of ladies who love it!

theres a place in wantaugh on wantaugh ave that does this too. It was $80 for the first time w/ tips. I actually want to go this weekend and do it without tips and see how it is. Hopefully not anywhere near that expensive lol

I go in oceanside and its 70 for a full set to go on and 35 for the pink fill and 40 for pink and white fill. whats nice about it is you can go like 2 days before your wedding if you have to and it wont chip or anything bc the gel seals it.

piper...

if you are going to do permanent french...

go with the UV Gel option

theres no tip, no fake nail, no acrylic
it lasts longer, looks nice for longer

IMO, looks more natural

and like the other girls said..you walk out of the salon with DRY nails...you dont have to wait for them to dry

they are a bit expensive...but totally worth it
