question about photo/video

Original post by AdriandSteve

So... Duet has been out top pic for photography.
My friend used Duet for photo and video back in April and i borrowed the video last night to watch it.

We weren't that impressed

So now i don't know what to do. The price for everything was great and we LOVE their photo's but in our opinions the video left something to be desired. Has anyone seen other video's by Duet and had different opinions?

This would be one of the main things to have us not book with them.

And to think, at first we didn't even want video. But if we are paying for it we want it to be good.

is there any way you can just use them for photography or no? (or does that go against the whole 'duet' concept lol)

thats what we might end up doing and see if we can find another videographer for a decent price. My fear, cuz i've seen it before, is if the photographers and videographer aren't from the same company they tend to fight and get in each others shots.

is this true? My FSIL told me about this, but this was what her photog told her, so i thought it was all part of the 'sell.' I am planning on using two different companies and pray they work well together...

MOST of the time they are both professional and it isn't a problem. i just know my luck and i'll get stuck with people and this will happen lol.

I wouldn't worry about this, i used a photographer works on her own and doesnt do video and a videographer who does only videos. And they worked very well together, INFACT they had worked together alot and had done weddings in the past together.

BUT i will say that yes some photographers and videographers can get in eachothers way and just not like eachother. So definitely ask first maybe somebody they have worked with in the past or somebody they can recommend. When we took epics My photographer had asked 'so who are you booking for video' i think she was curious to see who she had to work with lol and i told her probably Pennylane, and the moment i said it she was relieved lol and said perfect bc she knew him well and they have done weddings together in the past and they work well together. The day of they were so happy to see eachother and they had no issues at all. Both of their styles are very unobtrusive, she does ONLY candids so it is different and never in your face and the same with him, i looked back saying i hope they got stuff at my reception lol bc i didnt notice them but in friends pics i would see them in the back taking shots and they did a great job.

SO dont worry about this, but ask first. Many girls on here have used a videography company that does just videos and had to work with their photographer. Dont forget that they are all in the same industry and most have worked with alot of other vendors and know eachother.

Re: question about photo/video

Im going to check out Duet next week actually. My friend however used Duet about 2 years ago, her pics came out great but I was not impressed with the video either. Its nice, but just a basic video. So Im not sure if we will book video with them. Im really in love with Pennylane for video but dont know if we will be able to afford them
