I am starting confirmation in September which means I will be ending in May. We are planning on getting married in June or July.
Do you know if we are able to take pre-cana while I am making confirmation, or do I have to wait to take precana till AFTER confirmation?
I'm in a panic now... The priest hasn't called us back...

Re: Question about precana!
You dont have to provide any proof that you've received sacraments for Pre-cana, so Im pretty sure you dont. We're doing Precana now and didnt have to provide them with any documents.

For us the priest has to set it up for us, like has to give us the dates we are 'allowed to attend'
i dont know anymore :(

Thats weird. The priest gave us a schedule and we had to make the reservations ourself.

I am not sure about this. Every church is different. When you mentioned the whole confirmation thing I was shocked. Def wait until he tells you what you need to do with Pre Cana.

Jenny what diocese are you a part of? if it's brooklyn-queens then you can go to this website...
www.pre-cana.org
they have all the dates you can attend and you choose which you want to sign up for and which location you want to go to

Maggie: really? I am part of the brooklyn (fh works for the diocese) The way they made it sound was i have to be confirmed before I do precana.... I thought we were just able to sign up too... but then the priest made us feel terible that were both working for catholic institutions and I havn't recieved confirmation (Although when I was supposed to there was a family emergency!) Thank you...maybe we can go anyway and get it over with?

Oh wow... I didn't even think about that! I'll have to do the same thing too.
We're not meeting with our church until June so I'll guess I'll have to worry until then.

I'm in queens, same diocese... So i'm pretty sure you dont need confirmation to go to Precana. They also have Interfaith Precana.. so some people wouldnt even have it

Re: Question about precana!
from the site:
What documents do we have to present to be married in Church? On your first meeting with the priest or deacon, you will need to bring:
Certificates of Baptism issued within the past six months If one of you has been married before, you need to present the death certificate of your spouse or the Church’s nullity decree
**It says nothing about confirmation!!

That's why this whole confirmation thing has me so confused, my friends got married in a church two years ago and he wasn't even Catholic!

Re: Question about precana!
I went through the same thing with FH - we did pre-cana without his confirm through archdiocese ny - he just need baptismal certificate.
