Question about readings.....

How many are there exactly? Old Testament, New Testament, Gospel?

For some reason I thought there were only 2, is this wrong?

Help please!

Thanks

Re: Question about readings.....

You can pick 2-3 people to read, 1 for the Old Testament, 1 for the new and possibly 1 for the responsorial psalm. The priest reads the gospel. We aren't having anyone read the responsorial psalm, we are going to have the organist sing it.

Do I get to pick the Gospel that priest will be reading?

Re: Question about readings.....

I have a question and thought this post would be an ideal place to post it...

FH and I wanted to incorporate our godparents into the ceremony somehow. We're getting married at a church but it will only be a ceremony, not a Mass (therefore bringing up the bread and wine can't be done). So we were thinking of having them do the readings. Problem is how do we have 2 sets of godparents do 2 readings if there are 4 people?

Or any other ideas would be appreciated? I don't think passing out programs will make them feel 'honored'.

I think it depends how long your mass is, and on the church and what they do, they give you a book at pre-cana to elp....I dunno I still have to call my priest

FH and I want to do the same thing (honor our godparents). We are having 2 readings. My godmother is doing one and his godfather is doing one.

The deacon suggested that we could have the both godparents stand up at the podium but only one of them read, but we didn't really like that option.

Not sure if your moms would be upset but are you doing a unity candle? Maybe you can have your godmothers do the unity candle and the godfathers do the readings?
