Question about RK Bridal and bridal salons in general...

I am very lucky to have relatives that are offering to buy my gown and I was told that money is of no concern (jokingly 'try and keep it under $10,000!!!)

I have seen nothing but great reviews about Rk on LIW such as they have a zillion gowns, they are very helpful, they have plus size samples to try on and they are reasonably priced...

Do most people go to RK because they are reasonably priced?? If I am looking to spend around $5k or $6k on a gown should I go there or are there any other salons that you ladies would recommend?

I know I can go straight to the designers and I have already been to Reem Acra's salon and fell in LOVE with a gown but I want the experience of trying on different styles from all different designers and I am not sure where to go. Any suggestions?

(I always thought I would be looking for a place to get an inexpensive gown not the other way around so I am so thrown off!!)

TIA!

Re: Question about RK Bridal and bridal salons in general...

I wasn't sure how much i wanted to spend on my gown so i went to RK bridal, Klienfields and Bridal Regflections - carle place

RK - bridal has dresses about $3,000 and under - but has some nice dresses -like eve of milady

Klienfelds is - $1500 and up - tons of dresses - lots of designers - but sales people are hit or miss

Bridal reflections - lots of good dresses - same price range as klienfelds -nice salon

i honestly did best at trunk shows - so look on the websites for different ones of the designers - such as anne barge, reem, ines di santo and others

Re: Question about RK Bridal and bridal salons in general...

I would 100% recommend that you go to Weddding Salon of Manhasset. They have a large selection -- Vera, Reem, Glasgow, etc. -- and the best customer service I've encountered (I also looked at Kleinfelds and Bridal Reflections). Definitely ask for Noreen--she's the best!

Re: Question about RK Bridal and bridal salons in general...

I love RK bridal. I received excellent help and tried on 10 dresses from various designers. They have a huge selection of bridal dresses to choose from. It was the only place that I went to and I only went their once. I didn't want to deal with Keinfelds, because I had heard so many bad things about their staff.

Re: Question about RK Bridal and bridal salons in general...

Go to The Bride Atelier by Mark Ingram. They have absolutely amazing service, and designers like Jenny Lee you can't find anywhere else. They have a great Rivini, Peter Langer and Lian Carlo selection as well. The dressing rooms are plush and it's not a crazed atmosphere like Kleinfeld's can be. Definitely worth trip.

Re: Question about RK Bridal and bridal salons in general...

I think RK bridal is a great alternative to the regular bridal salon.

I got quoted $1000 for a gown in a bridal boutique in Queens. I called RK bridal with the designer name and style number and they quoted it for $810!!

I don't know how it works, though. I don't know if they do your alterations or if it's included in the price they quote you for.

Hope this helps!!

Re: Question about RK Bridal and bridal salons in general...

I would recommend Kleinfeld's. Some people have had bad experiences there, but mine was great. I went during a trunk show and ended up buying an dress from that designer, but I tried on many different designers in all price ranges. Their dresses do start around $1500 and go up to $10k!!! And they definitely have Reem Acra gowns.

I was there for about 2 1/2 hours on a Saturday and didn't feel rushed at all.

Re: Question about RK Bridal and bridal salons in general...

Bridal reflections has only a few plus sized dresses. if you ask for mary lou, she will work with you though, they're very understanding.

Re: Question about RK Bridal and bridal salons in general...

I've only been to RK, Kleinfeld and The Gown Company in NYC's East Village (which was a great place -- relaxed atmosphere. But nothing I tried on was under $2,600, so great for you!)

Kleinfeld is definitely an experience. The salesperson I had was great. A little nutty, but didn't push TOO hard. Actually helped me make a decision. Since you're not worrying about $$, you may also want to try Saks Fifth Ave. or Bergdorf's. But Kleinfeld is def. great for selection. Have fun!!

Re: Question about RK Bridal and bridal salons in general...

If you do not have to worry about money -skip RK Bridal. -Not that there is anything wrong with RK Bridal, but if money really isn't an issue I suggest going to Mark Ingram or Designer Loft. They have much more inimate settings and higher quality dresses.

I second this. Amazing upscale selection and superb service.

I also suggest The Bridal Loft in Manhattan. Bergdorf, and Barneys.

RK is a great place (i got my dress there) but if you are working on a nice sized budget, I would go get pampered a bit - there are many salons that have a big selection.
Check out this list of Manhattan shops: nymetro
