question about shower invitations (Updated below with photo)

I am ordering invitations for a baby shower for my SIL. Laney at poeticpetals e-mailed me some samples of her work and her shower invitations are beautiful.

We need to decide whether to pay a little extra to have the return address printed on the envelopes or whether mailing labels are okay for the return address. We will probably use clear labels for the guests addresses. Please let me know whether you think it's tacky to use labels for the return address and the guest addresses.

I'm asking because while I love fancy invites, the guest of honor has commented that she does not believe in spending a lot on invitations. Also, it's a shower, not a wedding.

Labels are perfectly OK for shower invitations IMO!!!!! Honestly, the only time I've ever heard they were tacky were on this site for weddings. But I know I've received shower invites with labels, you're fine Kerie!!

I would pay a little extra to have them printed - but it depends if it's in your budget or not...and how much the little 'extra' is.

Labels are fine for shower invitations. Use the money for something else.

This is the return address label I am considering. I think I like gold ink. We will not know if the baby is a girl or boy.

The price difference is not huge if I want to have the return address printed right on the envelope. But I'm paying for the invites myself and I already know that the guest of honor doesn't think that invites should be a big expenditure. She wasn't too keen on how crazy I went for my wedding invitations.

I think the labels are fine.... I blew a ton of $$ on the wedding invitations (and had the return address printed), but frankly, the shower invitations (which my mom requested that I select) I got off the rack at target.... The info actaully gets filled in by hand, so mom doesn't have to putter around with the printer.

To me, shower invitations can be MUCH less formal... I would be surprised if someone sent me a shower invite with pre-printed return address!
