Question about tanning salons
I haven't been to one in 12 years. I would much rather go to the beach, but since the weather will only be getting colder I need to go to a salon. Where can I go in the Plainview area? Also, what do I need to bring with me? What is a safe amount of minutes to be under each time? How many times should I go a week? I just want some color for my wedding. I don't need to get really dark.

Re: Question about tanning salons
I hadn't been in years either and I went to a Hollywood Tans near my apartment. They were really nice and gave me a tour, explaining each of the machines (all stand-up) and what the max minutes allowed were. The girl also recommended how many minutes I should go in. They have 'winkies' those little metallic eye protectors as well as tan enhancing lotion for sale. I'm sure there's one in Plainview or the area.

Re: Question about tanning salons
I also go 2 Hollywood Tans in Northport. They are really nice there and also CLEAN!
That's my main concern.
You should ask the girl how long u should go in. Depending on your skin type and the bed it will vary.
The stand-ups are more powerful so it takes less time.
I don't use anything but I guess u can put on whatever you normally would in the sun.
P.S If I want color I go 2x's a week. If I want to get dark I'll go 3x's a week and then 2 to keep it.

Re: Question about tanning salons
I'm sure there is a ton in plainview - sorry I cant recommend one. Are you tan now and just want to maintain some color? I would prob go 2 times a wk for the next month before your wedding. There are different beds so the amount of minutes depend on the intensity of the bed. These are all things a good salon will go through with you. I would not bring any lotions from outdoor tanning - you can buy lotions in the tanning salon and they will recommend which ones. Start off at the minimum minutes if you are nervous and you can always go in longer if you want a little more color. All salons I have ever been to supplied the eye protection, towels and lotion...if you go to one that doesnt have them its most probably not a very good salon (like dont go to a tanning bed in a nail salon - never sure how often they change the bulbs in there beds). hope this helped.

Re: Question about tanning salons
I think there is a hollywood tanning on South Oyster Bay Rd in Plainview. I think it's next to Cactus Salon in the shopping center that has Shoprite. It's brand new, so I'm not really sure of the name.
