Question about the surge line on the ovulation sticks

I started using them a couple of days ago and was just wondering if you always get the surge line. The directions say that if the surge line is lighter than the reference line then you arent ovulating yet but if it the surge line is darker or the same as the refence line then you should ovulate in the next 48 hours....so does that mean no matter what u will always get that line and you just have to see if it is darker or lighter? Ehhhh...this is so confusing!

I think it's possible not to get it at all.

I tested late and got the faint line but figured just to be safe and make sure I was definitely testing later than the surge I tested the next day and go no line. So I just figured I had O'd or was going to any minute since I missed the dark lines.

We'll see in a few days if AF rears her ugly head.

It is so confusing but I hope that helps.

The past three days I've tested I got the surge line but it was lighter than the reference line.....wouldn't it have made more sense to have no line come up if your not and a line to show if you are? Who designs these things....its so confusing!!

The test line is testing for LH and since we always have some amount of LH in our system it will always come up with some sort of line. For me the test line get VERY dark when I am about to O so its unmistakable. I promise it gets easier to read them with time.

I only used the strips during the week prior to my suspected O, and definitely always got an LH line. When it's O-time, you will know - the line should be unmistakably dark.

This has been my experience - at first I thought it wasn't working properly - but I was testing to early - the line was noticeably darker.
