Re: question about tipping matre d?(spelling?)
I think you still have to tip. They might mean that his salary is included in what you are paying for the reception.
The rule of thumb is $2-$3 pp, I believe. Our maitre'd was awesome so we were happy to give him a good tip.

the 20% service charge is to cover the wait staff... the matre d' (recommended $3-5/pp) and the bridal attendant ($1.50-3/pp) are usually not included

Any way to suck more money out of our pockets! I am not tipping more than $2 per person which would be $200 bucks.

Yea, the tipping thing has always bothered me. We're already spending so much money! See what you've got left for tips and then spread it out, don't break your bank over it.

I believe it is about $1.50-$3 pp. You can always ask your hall what they recommend. You don't have to use their recommendation but they can give you a good idea about how much. Also, base it on how good of a job they do. Allow some extra cash in your pocket, some people go above and beyond the call of duty and deserve a nice tip.

Check your contract too. I think one of the halls we looked at required a certain amount for the Matre'd tip and it was included in the contract and the estimate. So check the contract carefully before you lay out more money - you might have already paid for it. Ditto for your limo drivers.
