Question about Toasting Flutes?

Question about Toasting Flutes?

FH and I recently received toasting flutes from a relative of his. I have a dilema b/c it was originally discussed that my mom was going to buy ones that we picked out. Additionally, we really do not like the ones that we were given. Would never have picked out something like these. Of course we do not want to hurt anyones feelings but we also want to pick out ones that we really like since we'll have them forever. My question is: can we have two sets at our table that day? Would that be weird? This was FH's idea so that everyone would be happy including us! What do u all think?

to answer your question, yes they are that bad!! they were given to us at our e-party with the intention for the wedding. they have our names and the wedding date on them. i know it will hurt the feelings of the person who gave them to us b/c i know they'll notice if they are not on our table that day! ugh!

I would tell them that your Mom already got you a pair of toasting flutes that you are using. THey should understand. Can you return the flutes and maybe get something else you can use that day like a cake knife?

I agree w/ June. I think the two sets would definitely look weird...JMO

Re: Question about Toasting Flutes?

my advice - what about using them at your rehearsal dinner - tell them that is what you are doing and make it into a special thing so they buy it......

even take a pic of you both with them at the rh dinner and send it to them if you want.....

Maybe you can use the ones they gave you at the rehearsal dinner or your shower.

Or

Just ask your reception hall to put them on your table with the ones you are actually going to use.

I agree and say use them at the rehearsal dinner

To tell the truth, I'd probably just use them to avoid hurting feelings... but I'm a pushover, and the flutes aren't too important to me anyway.

Don't use them if you don't like them. Tell them that your mom got you a set. I already got a beautiful set that I plan on using, but I have a feeling FMIL is going to run out and get me a tacky pair (don't ask). If that is what happens, I'll tell her that I already had ones that I had planned on using.

I was thinking the same thing. You caould use them as the rehearsal dinner adn explain that this was something special your mother planned to do for your wedding.

Re: Question about Toasting Flutes?

no we havn't decided yet but are discussing now maybe using them at the RD. the only problem is that the relatives who bought them won't be at the rd so i'd still have to explain why they're not at the wedding? ugh! we'll see, we have lots of time to decide.
