I was just talking to my FMIL about kids, and she said that there are twins on my FH's side. She started teasing me about having twins. I always thought that twins came from the mother's side. Does anyone know the answer?

Actually, from what they believe may be genetic, comes from the paternal side!!! I don't have an actual link for you though...but I am sure that if you do a search, you will find info on it!

I'm pretty sure that twins (fraternal at least) run along the mother's side, since it has to do with how many eggs you release.

so my grandmother had twin sisters and my hubbys grandmother is a twin. What are our odds for having twins?

My husband is a twin and the family is always joking that when we had kids they would be twins since it has not skipped a generation on there side of the family but it is up to the women in the family to have the twins not the boys, and it looks like it will be skipping this generation. He has twins on both sides of the family - none on my side and so far only single babies for me.
So I think it is the women that carry on the gene not the guys.. Hope I am correct

I'm always curious about this too.
My dad is an identical twin and has identical twin cousins. NOW, would that mean that I carry it being the MATERNAL part of my child OR do my AUNTS carry the gene b/c they are the FEMALE parts of my dads family? (was that confusing or what) I just really want to know if I have a chance????

I AM an identical twin...and there were no other twins on either side of our families....we were the first...and a fluke! My mom didn't even know she was having twins until we were born! 30 years ago, they didn't give you a sonogram unless they thought something was wrong...and my mom only gained 15 lbs when she was pregnant.
So...I don't thing I answered your question...but I thought I would share a little story
