Question about Ultrasounds

I'm getting one done at the hospital where my doctor offices are, but in a separate area b/c they don't have the equipment in their offices. What happens when I get it done? Will the technician let me see the screen and tell me what he/she sees? Or do they give a report to my Doctor, and I have to discuss with him, later?

Usually you go in and you have a screen in from of you sometimes, other times is next to you. but you will be able to see what is going on and they will explain also.

And it's an internal sono! It's not too comfy but it's OK. My office has 2 tv's - one for me to see and one for the tech to see. The last time there wasn't anything to see, but the tech told me how far along the sac was and showed me that and whether or not the cervix was closed, etc. I hope they tell you!

Depends how far along you are. I had my first external U/S at around 14 weeks. Before that they were all internal. Then when you move on to the external ones they still do both because they want to see your cervix.

You will usually get to see everything on the screen and they will print out a picture for you. I found that I had to ask alot of questions -- they don't really volunteer alot of information on what they see - but it's your body and your baby so don't be shy and don't be afraid to ask 'What's that and why are you measuring it?'
