Question about using candle votives as placecards?

If anyone has used candle votives as placecards ( with the names and table numbers printed on vellum around the candle holder) can you tell me if you had any problems with the candles getting too hot for the guests to pick up and bring to their tables? My friend is thinking of doing this, but she's not sure if it will be safe. Also, if anyone has pictures to share of this type of placecard, that would be appreciated. Thanks!

I used them for my wedding.

We used the kind with the stem so no issues with the glass getting hot (though in a test at my house before the wedding I didn't think that they got very hot.)

They were a HUGE hit--

we also made little letter cards to help guide people to theirs so there wasn't that much confusion:

AC Moore

But I've heard that Michael's carries them too.

I bought a lot of things there for DIY's and always asked for special orders so that I wouldn't have to pick off of the shelves (this way things come in boxes) And I Always asked for a discount--- and always got one!
