I want to make cookies using cookie cutters tonight. When do I 'cut' the cookies? Before I bake them or after?

Re: Question about using cookie cutters
You need to have the right kind of recipe - one that made for rolling out so you can cut the cookies from the raw dough. Then you bake the cut-outs.

Oh. I can't just use the Pillsbury stuff? I may have to rethink this.

Re: Question about using cookie cutters
Pillsbury sugar cookie dough works, just follow the directions on the can thing about rolling out the dough. You will need a rolling pin, and probably some flour, and a large flat surface. Then you cut the cookies and bake them.

Re: Question about using cookie cutters
I think the Pillsbury stuff is just for spooning onto a cookie sheet. If you make the dough: An electric mixer will save your arms, and you'll be able to roll out the dough to use the cutters.

Re: Question about using cookie cutters
Ok, I just saw this post this am, so sorry. But maybe this will help for the future anyway. Cut the dough witht he cookie cutters before you bake it. And a good little tidbit I learned so the dough doesn't get stuck to the cutters constantly- dip the edge of the cutters in flour first, then cut the dough. It's much easier. Hope they came out good!!!
