Question about wedding band for interfaith weddings

I read on a past post that for a jewish wedding you need a wedding band that does not have diamonds on it. Is that true? If so, is that the case with interfaith weddings?

I can't believe I actually know this :) In a jewish ceremony typically wear a simple gold band with no diamonds or any other stones. It symbolizes true value and purity of the ring. It can't have any breaks of any kind. If your having a ceremony with a rabbi and priest you might what to ask the rabbi. Not sure if you are have a singe interfaith minister, my guess is you can do whatever you want. That's what we're doing.

I agree with what you said!

I'm using my mothers wedding band because its all gold, and mine is not.. it's just for the ceremony, afterwards I'll put my own on. Also, your supposed to put the ring on your pointer finger instead of your ring finger....

But, I guess it depends on how you want your ceremony to be conducted.. you need to ask the rabbi what he suggests.. in the long run, anything goes these days..

I hope anything goes. My FI will die if he has to buy me another wedding band. He just ordered a diamond eternity band with over 4 carats of diamonds!

I had a friend with the same issue and she bought one for some like $50. Really simple band. But borrowing is definately the way to go.

I can't imagine telling FI....'you know that overpriced band you bought me? Well it doesn't really count!'

I think I will borrow someones.

My sister got married by a Catholic Priest and a Rabbi and had a diamond and white gold band. The diamonds went half way around. There was no problem with it. I don't even remember anyone mentioning anything about it.
If it is a big deal just get a nice gold band to wear on the honeymoon. I wouldn't want to go to one of the islands with my engagement and a diamond band on but that is just me and I have a habit of losing jewerly.

Your diamond band won't go to waste at all. You just might not be able to get 'married' in it. Definitely just try to borrow sonmeone's solid gold for the ceremony and put your beautiful one on after it. Pictures can be taken in whatever you choose. Ask the officiant, they will give you the best answer.

My friend did the same thing when she got married.
