i just ordered my dress and i know it won't be in until december/january. but, i was thinking of what i would need for my first fitting. a little premature yes, but nevertheless it's still on the forefront of my mind. everyone says to bring shoes, undergarments, and their slip. what is a slip? what is it for and where do i buy one? can i wait until after my first fitting to get one? as far as undergarments, i don't want to buy one too soon and not be able to return it if it doesn't fit with the dress. any thoughts on this?

Re: question about what to bring for first fitting
Shoes that you are going to wear and the undergarments that you are going to wear. I hope that I helped you out.

Re: question about what to bring for first fitting
What I brought: 1. Bra (strapless): Victoria secret promised to return it forever as long as it had tags. It fit with the dress.
2. Shoes with appropriate size heals. This is the most important thing.
They sold me a slip-Crinoline think to make my dress poof the right amount.
I forgot: a camera. Should have had one.
Some girls bring tissues. I didn't cry.

Re: question about what to bring for first fitting
yeah, I'd almost avoid buying the undergarments and slip until the first fitting... and just bring the shoes.
I walked in with what I thought would be my slip and bra, and phyllis just shook her head... and I saw what she meant ASAP. The slip was too puffy for my gown, and the bra made me look like a chicken. She pulled out a bra for me, I put it on, and everything looked soooo much better...

Re: question about what to bring for first fitting
you should definitely have your shoes for the first fitting. The purpose of doing that is so they can measure the hem correctly.
If you know what kind of under garments you are going to wear then bring them. I bought a bra, and then ended up having cups added 3 weeks before the wedding. I was able to return it.
My underwear I bought just before the first fitting.
As for a slip, I wouldn't bother buying one before hand. If you need one, you'll know after your first fitting. I don't know where you got your dress, but if it's a pretty big place they will be able to order one for you.
Remember, it's never too early to start thinking about these things.

Re: question about what to bring for first fitting
thanks a lot girls. i think i'll wait to get a slip; i'm not sure what kind i may need. i'll definitely bring my shoes and maybe a bra that i think may go well with the dress. if it doesn't i guess i'll make sure the return policy is flexible. thanks again!
