So, my FH never bought any really expensive jewlery before my E-ring which Im sure many people havent (especially guys)...but I was 99% sure that when you make a purchase like this, you get papers with all the information like, cut, grade, color, carat weight, etc. I asked to see the papers for insurance purposes and just in general...we are not in the old ages where girls didnt know anything about how much their ring was, etc. Anyway, he handed me the replacement and kinda insurance policy that he took out from the jewlers. This was only a brochure stating the policy for replacement, maintance, etc. I got annoyed and said that he must of gotten ripped off and who doesnt ask for papers with a purchase like this.
Can someone tell me if this is normal???
If this helps- He purchased at Littman Jewlers, from what I knwo that are reputable.
Look at update...
Recs on where I should have ring appraised? Does insurance company need more than one? TIA

Littman will ABSOLUTELY give you the GIA card. We got our wedding bands there and got a brochure with the cards and the value plus the contract.

Even if you get the GIA info from the jeweler(which you should) you should still get an independent appraisal for insurance purposes.

Agreed on the independent appraisal - don't worry as much about the papers from Littman's. You just need to have the written appraisal in case anything happens and you have to make a claim. Plus, most guys are so overwhelmed when they're buying the ring they don't even know what to ask for!!!

Yeah, you are right...I just wish they had a freakin brain, lol.
But in this case, I figured out why he didnt get papers after havent a bit of a heated phone call with him after seeing your responses, lol. It isnt certified...which I was also a little upset about but I know that just means that it was inspected, etc. I know this is very very good to have but at least I know now why he doesnt have anything. You know, he was trying to get me the best ring for his budget and the certified wouldve probally been a little bit more and couldnt have given me as nice of a ring. O well, I will get it appraised like I should anyway. Any recs on where I should get the appraisal from?
