I am an Associate in a 10 attorney firm in MA...I have been there for almost a year now.
I am wondering who to invite to my wedding...I really need to cut people. There is one associate I am friendly with (we hang out outside of work on occasion, go to lunch together, etc.)
There are 4 partners...all married...so that would be 8 people...and then there are only 3 other associates that would not be invited (plus their dates, husbands and long-term boyfriend)....one of those associates works in another office and I never see her...
Who would you invite? Or what did you do?
Also, they are in MA and the wedding is in NY...but they did attend a former associate's wedding in CT....
Any advice is appreciated!!!

Re: Question for all the Attorneys
I would invite everyone - they can make a table. I know how expensive it is, but for work's sake I would just bite the bullet. They might not be able to attend.

Re: Question for all the Attorneys
I would invite them all. I invited everyone in my class year at my firm. There were probably 3 or 4 out out 15 that I was unsure about but I'd rather invite everyone in that kind of situation.

Re: Question for all the Attorneys
Hi--I've mostly had government jobs but when I did work at a firm the support staff seemed to take offense when they were excluded from events. So, I'd be careful about inviting attorneys only.
I'm a sole practitioner now and I am even worried about what to do with former co-workers and the Admin. Law Judges that I used to work for.!

Re: Question for all the Attorneys
I invited my entire department (firm too big)... But the department was about 11 people. I know it's a lot when you invite them plus their SOs, but I bet you most won't even come. In any event, it's probably the 'right' thing to do - at least in my law firm it is!
Good luck!

Re: Question for all the Attorneys
We invited all of the partners and all of the associates. Obviously, their dates were invited as well. There were 32 people, but 8 did not come for various reasons.

Re: Question for all the Attorneys
i work at a smaller firm in Boston too - there are 20 attorneys
i am inviting about 10 attorney (so 20 total)- they are the group that i eat lunch with a lot and the partners i work for the most and the young associates
i do work for athe others but don't socialize with them much
i did not send them save the dates to them so we will see how many make it down

Re: Question for all the Attorneys
I would invite all of them. I am now in-house at a corporation so I am inviting my whole practice group (4 other attorneys), the two assistants, my mentor attorney and my boss' boss (who always inquires about my wedding). It's a total of 16 people but I would not do it any other way. Some suggested that I shouldn't invite the assistants but I thought that would be very rude, particularly given the size of my group.
In the long run, it will be worth it.

I work in a large firm in Long Island and I am inviting the partners and associates in my department plus my office manager. I just cant see doing it any other way.
