Question for Attorneys (Repost from BHB)

I am an Associate in a 10 attorney firm in MA...I have been there for almost a year now.

I am wondering who to invite to my wedding...I really need to cut people. There is one associate I am friendly with (we hang out outside of work on occasion, go to lunch together, etc.)

There are 4 partners...all married...so that would be 8 people...and then there are only 3 other associates that would not be invited (plus their dates, husbands and long-term boyfriend)....one of those associates works in another office and I never see her...

Who would you invite? Or what did you do?

Also, they are in MA and the wedding is in NY...but they did attend a former associate's wedding in CT....

Any advice is appreciated!!!

It seems like an all or nothing situation. The only caveat to that would be to invite just the one that you are friendly with. You are not under any obligation to invite the partners. I am not an attorney but I worked in small law office and I do know the politics. I hope that helps.

If it helps one of my good friends is an associate as well and she didn't invite anyone from work because she felt the same way you did - that she'd have to invite everyone.

She was pretty friendly with one person in the office but explained to her in advance that she didn't want her to be insulted but she couldn't invite her and then not invite anyone else. She didn't want to insult any of the partners in particular.
