Question for Brides using bands....

Question for Brides using bands....

I plan on having a band play for my wedding, and I would like to know what I could expect in terms of cost. I realize the prices differ depending on how many pieces and singers are used. Im just looking for a ballpark figure as I was told that this could take a up a huge percentage of the entire wedding budget. A DJ is not an option - I prefer bands. This will be the vendor that will mean most to FH and myself. Also, if anyone has any recommendations for bands they have used, how many pieces and singers they had etc. please let me know. Thanks in advance for your help.

I used Code Bleu, they are one of the bands from Skyline

They were great! Everyone raved. Check out their website they are always having showcases, and they are just as good at the showcase that they are at the wedding!

We paid $5200 for 8 pieces, the prices may have gone up for this year though.

FM if you have any more questions!
Good Luck

Re: Question for Brides using bands....

I saw over 10 bands in NYC and LI. Times Square Orchestra was the best I saw. I really loved working with them too. I thought they were really upfront with me and I am very demanding.

They made my wedding. We were worried about a band being too loud and I promise you - they were not. They stuck to their play and do not play list and were so much fun.

My parent's friends spend a lot more money on weddings than we did and they all said they would have hired our band in a second if they had ever seen them.

I am not sure of their new pricing but maybe it is around $6,000. It is worth every penny. A good band equals a good wedding.

My parents went to a wedding at the Carltun recently and money was no object. The band, however, was so terrible that everyone complained and nobody danced. The bride and groom were so upset. Go see the band if you can. Do not let them send you a CD and just go by that.
See them at a showcase or another wedding or do not book them.

Although not as well known on these boards, I had Niteflight. They are 9 pcs. At the time, I paid under 4$k but I know they are probably somewhere around $4700 now. My girlfriend just had them for her August wedding and they were just as amazing. We booked them at a showcase and they also play some clubs. They are a vendor here.

OMG! I can't believe these prices, but I'm sure the bands are worth it. We have booked Gerry Finlay and the Cara Band. They are an Irish band, but play everything and they are a very popular band on the Irish circuit. We got one person on keyboard for the 1.5 hour CH and a 5-piece band for the rest of the reception (4.5 hours) for $3,500. We do know Gerry very well, so I think he must have given us a good deal.

We saw about 7 bands, the best in my opinion being Renegade (they are a LI Paramount band) but they were unfortunately booked for our date. We went with Full House, another great band. FM me if you want pricing info

franklin wayne - TIMEPIECE...they are by far the best band i have ever seen. I've been to a ton of franklin wayne showcases and i fell in love with them...they are high energy to say the least..and there voices are awesome! They book fast though. My brother is getting married in oct 05 and couldn't get them, so they went with Franklin waynes - Vision...they are good also! I believe cost is about 6k? not sure....thanks to my parents!
good luck!

We went with Full House, FH is a musician so we couldn't even imagine having a DJ, even though I work for one! They aren't the least or the most expensive, originally we wanted the Nerds, but they were 10K!!!! And very cocky too (their agency).

FM me if you want prices or other info.

We're using Paris and after adding all the bells and whistles we're paying around 9k. Way too much for me but FILS are springing for that.

Re: Question for Brides using bands....

Thanks so much for all of your suggestions. I truly had no idea where to begin except from the extraordinarily priced bands I grew up with. Back in the day, my entire Bat Mitzvah celebration cost a lil bit more than some of these bands do. If only I could have my wedding in 1983 - well at least the COST of 1983. Now I am having a flashback of my Hank Lane Band playing 'Sweet Dreams' by the Eurythmics - and I did NOT have a female singer. ICK!!! It was that and 'Abracadabra' by the Steve Miller band.

I am also using Heart and Soul and highly recommend them! They are awesome! I like Daybreaks Night too!

I am a bit curious as to why I am paying more for my wedding than someone else here and we are only a week apart... hmmmmm its not a lot more but still!
