Question for Ebay Sellers

Question for Ebay Sellers

I sold some things on ebay a couple of weeks ago. One buyer said she mailed a check on November 10th but I haven't received it yet. I emailed her on Friday to let her know I didn't receive it and she hasn't replied. I followed up with her again today.

How long should I wait to hear back from her? How long should I wait to get the check?

Re: Question for Ebay Sellers

You can get her phone number through ebay if you want.....If you do this, you can call her. I would email her again, and say if you dont receive the money by this weekend that she will get negative feedback and the item she won will be relisted on ebay.

Did you email her a payment reminder on ebay?

Also after that you need to File a Non-Paying Bidder Alert, and then Request a Final Value Fee Credit.

If you request a final value fee credit, EBAY will credit your account the amount it costed you to post the item for sale on ebay.

I wouldnt be so quick with the negative feedback threat. You never know, it could have gotten lost. Maybe shes out of town, it's hard to know. I'd send a payment reminder thru ebay. Its the first step in letting ebay know you are possibly having a problem. The last step is a non-paying bidder alert. Ebay will flag their account and you will be reimbursed for your ebay costs. I think if someone gets 2 or 3, their account gets shut down. I hesitate to post negative feedback bc the person can retaliate and later, down the line, the auction is long overwith but a negative feedback remains on your feedback list and future customers never really know the full story. I'd rather have a clean ebay record. JMO

I agree about the FB - I don't have a high enough rating to let a neg get posted. I am waiting until tomorrow to see if she responds to my what's up email then I will send the reminder.

If she doesn't respond or if I dont get the payment, I dont know how long I should wait to file a non-paying bidder report. It's only been a little over 2 weeks since the auction ended so I am waiting a while longer but how long do you think is fair?

Re: Question for Ebay Sellers

If you dont want to leave negative feedback, that is fine...Just dont leave her any feedback at all.

You can still do the payment reminder and the other two steps that I told you to do in my last post. At leat you will get paid for your listing and you will be able to repost your item on ebay again.

Re: Question for Ebay Sellers

Is there a standard length of time to wait for a check in the mail?

Re: Question for Ebay Sellers

Re: non-paying bidder alert I dont remember how long it has to be but check out the topic under help on ebay. They have very specific guidelines for how much time has to have passed before you can file one. I guess they want to make sure that everyone is not filing one after a week.

I hope it all works out. I've done alot of ebay and most of the time everything worked out great. I did have a couple of incidents and I hate having to deal with the hassle.

Where did she mail the check from? The longest I ever had to wait to receive a check was 1 week. I only deal with people in the United States too.

I don't remember where she's from - I stated US addresses only. This is apparently her first ebay transaction - although she was bidding on items yesterday.

I send a second request bill to her. I guess I'll wait until the weekend to see what happens and then report it.
