My friend registered for 5 items at Best Buy & even though all they got was a DVD player she got a discount on the rest & used the money from the wedding to pay for it. If I 'm not mistaken...she may have only told one person about the Best Buy registry
Other people I know have added stuff at the last min to their registries b/c it's likely that people won't buy the items so close to the wedding. The couple gets their cash & then chooses how to spend it & they now have the option of using the 'leftover' registry discount? IMO it's abusing the system a little but hey - that's what they did to save a buck or two!

Re: Question for FH
I say you could go either way. Put it on, and if his parents buy it for you guys, enjoy it. (It might be more of a gift to him from them?) Compromise is the key. If it makes him feel better, leave it on there. Unless you are dead set against it, but then be willing to be flexible to something else he wants on there.

Re: Question for FH
I think putting a TV on the registry is fine. I have been to many showers where a TV was a gift. I've even chipped in for them - and I wasn't part of the BP.
