They'll definetily be looking at your finances. How much you make, etc. Also they might do a credit check and reference check.

are you at the point where you'll be signing a contract to rent the apt or just seeing it for the first time?

First time: Some will ask for preliminary contact info, what you are looking for (1 bed, 2, etc) And they'll probably make small talk while showing you the place, to get to know you better......why are you looking in the area, what do you do, etc. (i always felt like it's their way of feeling you out)

Usually when you're ready to sign, they'll ask for more specific information about your jobs, employer name, maybe even contact info to verify employment. they might ask for references and do a credit check as well. hth

If you are just looking they will give you all the information that they will need when you come to actually sign a lease with them.

When you sign the lease you will need your DL, both if you are both going on the lease. Normally they will do a credit check, some ask for references, and usually they ask for an application fee (anywhere from 25-100 usually-but this isnt until you go in to actually rent from them)

The only thing you will really need on hand is your DL, otherwise its all the normal info off the top of your head, have an idea of what you want to spend and just make sure that they are in your price range.

If one of you does not reach the minimum credit requirements usually they can run both of you and see if you meet it, if not some places will allow someone to co-sign the lease for you against their credit-> not all of them do this.
