Is it normal to go through 1/4 tank of oil in less than 2 weeks when we keep the heat on 60?

60!!! Damn that's cold. How many people take showers a day. It has also been very cold out. Check for cold spots (windows, under doors etc) and fix any if you have them. Oil is a fortune right now. In the winter I get a delivery a month.

Yeah, unfortunately it is not that unusual. Get that shrink wrap stuff from Home Depot for windows and get the insulator inserts for any outlets that are on outside walls.

two people take showers and that is on the gas line.
We are never home- thats why we keep it on 60. We do have one little drafty area though
FH has rented this house for years and they never went through this much oil

Re: Question for girls who have houses
I think that is a bit much. Along with checking everything that has already been mentioned, also cover any ACs that are in the house. Cold air comes in through the vents.

Look at the oil tank and the line coming into the house from the outside. You may have a leak. I had one a few years ago. The second I opened the basement door, I thought I would pass out.
