If your local bm's are throwing you a shower, should the local bm's ask the out of state bm's to contribute their share for the shower?

Re: question for girls with out of state bridesmaids
That's a tough one .... if the OOT BMs aren't coming to the shower, then I guess they don't have to contribute?

My BM's that live in town held my shower and they did not asky my OOT BM's to contribute at all. That was my in town BM's choice. And I agreed with them. The OOT BM's weren't able to make it to the shower that was held here. But that was good they didnt' contribute, becuase the OOT BM's ended up hosting one for me anyways in my FH's hometown (where they live)
But in my opinion, if the BM's live OOT of town and are not attending, then I wouldnt' expect them to contribute........

Re: question for girls with out of state bridesmaids
I dont think the OOT BMs should be responsible, even if they attend. They spend ALOT of money to get to the shower....but they may feel obligated at the same time to pay something. I think they should ask if they will attend and if not then dont ask, but if they are maybe ask them to do favors or something of that kind

Re: question for girls with out of state bridesmaids
i think it depends on how many are OOT. one of my BMs is getting married next weekend and 4 of the 5 BM are from OOT (myself included). we all flew to VA and threw the shower for her because we didn't think it was fair to have the one in town BM shoulder the whole cost.

never even thought about that.....my moh is out of state and who knows what shes doing everything is such a secret she older so i think she most likely offered to send cash or give any other support.

oh that is a good question. i have 2 oot bms, one being my moh-sister.....i can only hope that she is contributing and will be coming in. im not really sure what they do if they are oot. i would just imagine that all the girls happily plan everything together.

Re: question for girls with out of state bridesmaids
I'd say they should be given the option. It's as simple as saying 'we're throwing her a shower. I know you're far away, so I'm not expecting you to contribute, but please let me know if you would like to be a part of it.'
my maid of honor is out of state, and I KNOW that if the local folks threw my shower without her, she'd be REALLY upset! She's already got it all planned out. So, I'd say that they should be given the option for as much or as little participation as they'd like, with a clear message that there is no obligation.

My maid of honor is in Florida and is throwing me a shower here (she's from here originally). She is insisting on paying for it and handling everything, but my other bridesmaids have offered any help she needs, be it money or time...

Re: question for girls with out of state bridesmaids
I was a MOH in a wedding where 2 of the bridesmaids were out of state... both were more than willing to contribute the shower... part of the responsibility of the BP is to throw you a shower... but having said that... I'm only having 3 bridesmaids and 2 of them live in Ireland. I don't expect them to contribute at all so it's probably just going to be split btwn my mom and my sister.
