My Mom really wants to throw me a shower, which is great, I can't wait! But....FH & I have lived together already for 2 years, and have pretty much everything we need....
What are you ladies doing? Upgrading stuff you already have?
And how many of you are NOT registering for china? I'm very contemplative about the china....

Re: Question for ladies who already live with FH
we are definitely going to upgrade. registering for China i'm not sure about. if we do, it will have to stay packed until we get a bigger place or a house. our apartment doesn't have extra space, just enough for the basics. my sister just had her shower and she's been living with her FH for 2 years too, and they upgraded everything. good luck!

Re: Question for ladies who already live with FH
FH and I have a ton of hand-me-downs (our every day dishes, pots and pans) but everything is in great shape! Although the stuff doesn't need to be replaced, we registered for new stuff so we can 'start fresh'. We did register for fine china.

Re: Question for ladies who already live with FH
I'm in a similar situation. That's exactly what we're doing with our registry, we're upgrading on a lot of things, but also, we're getting some items that we wouldn't normally buy for ourselves. For instance, newlyweds that have nothing to start with would need everything, but we are choosing other items like a cappuccino machine or an upgraded vacuum...I guess living together does have some pluses when it comes to the registry!!
And as far as china goes, we're still deciding on it, I've found a few patterns that I like, but since I'm soooooo indecisive, of course I'm having a hard time with that too!!

You're pretty safe with a registry at a place like Macy's or BBB. If 3 settings are bought and you decide you don't want to complete the set you can just return them.

We are upgrading some things and getting some new things. We did not register for china. FH's grandmother left him china.

Re: Question for ladies who already live with FH
Dont stress! FH and I live together but we have junky stuff... nothing thats going to last us a lifetime. If you are really really nervous about the china coming in sets you can either register at bed bath and beyond where everything is returnable for cash. If you dont get all your sets, you can just trade stuff you dont think you really needed for the china, or you can register for the boxed sets (its 8/12 place settings in the box). I did that for my everyday dishes bc we cant afford to have 3 bowls 1 plate and a fork lol good luck! HTH

Re: Question for ladies who already live with FH
FH and I have lived together for the past 5 years AND we just moved in March. So suffice it to say, i probably won't do a registry. everything we have is new since we just moved. We didn't take anything from our old apartment except for our bed which was only a month old when we moved. I hate to do a registry for things just for the sake of doing one. I wouldn't want people to spend money on things that I really don't need so i'll probably just have a big party for my shower and let everyone come and enjoy. As for the china, i'm not really into those things but my mom really wants to buy us a set so i'll let her.lol

Re: Question for ladies who already live with FH
you can upgrade what you have already or you can get a honeymoon reg. That is where ppl give money towards your hm and it will then be paid off in the end or it will pay most of it

lenox came out with everyday china where you can use it for everyday. I thought that was a great idea so we out them on our reg. Also they cant be broken or chipped if they do then it can be replaced for freee

Re: Question for ladies who already live with FH
I've been living on my own for 13 years bought my coop 9 years ago and FH moved in with me 3 years ago. I have alot but a house is totally something different.
When registering think of what you need for a house. So I'm upgrading most of my stuff and adding house items. And I am not doing China. But I am doing everyday dishes and a nicer set to keep for dinner parties.
What i did register for is more...12 white wine glasses, 12 red wine glasses, 12 champagne flutes. Now I have only 4 wine glasses in total.

Re: Question for ladies who already live with FH
We are upgrading some of our stuff and getting things that we do not already have like a kitchenaid mixer etc. I plan on registering for all new linens...things I may not by for myself. I am not registering for china b/c I actually have my great grandmothers china. If I did not already have a set of china I would register for one BUT I love dinner parties.

Re: Question for ladies who already live with FH
we like the others have upgraded. We did register for china and crystal. I figured that I can exchange for other things if I don't get enough. Happy Registering!!!

Re: Question for ladies who already live with FH
We have lived together for 4 years. I tried to upgrade some stuff and add some stuff that I wouldn't have gotten for myself, but there's not much. I'm thinking of doing a honeymoon registry because I'm concerned there aren't enough things on my registry. Good luck.

Re: Question for ladies who already live with FH
We are registering and upgrading things we have but def. not China we haven't used it yet and not sure we will. It's a lot of money to spend on something that just sits there and collects dust. We have FH grandmas china and it does not get used.

Re: Question for ladies who already live with FH
We registered for stuff we didn't have or needed an upgrade on. We didn't register for china since we have FH's great grandmothers china, so we registered for fun everyday plates.
