after doing the christmas survey i just started to think about putting up a tree...this is the first year i have cats..and i have two of them
do your cats attempt to climb up your tree??? what do u do so that it doesnt fall?

I don't have any cats but I just wanted to jump in and say that this thread is very entertaining! I'm imagining all your cats climbing the tree and it falling over, it just looks so funny in my head. (i hope that doesn't sound mean cause I dont mean it that way)
lol thats EXACTLY how i picture one of my cats and i see the whole tree falling

we're getting our first tree this year. well... we've always lived with cats, and with a christmas tree but this is our first year doing it on our own and one of our cats has never seen a christmas tree.
Petey...climbs the tree but just sits in it. I figure as long as we have a good enough base/stand it'll be fine.
Klinger has no intrest in the tree.
Honsetly, from my experience the tree thing depends entirely on the specific cats. My mom's cat climbs the tree and sleeps in it and never knocks it down.
Will's mom has a TON of cats and the tree has never fallen but plenty of ornaments have been broken.
don't put ornements you love or that will break on the bottom of the tree. Cats like to lay under it and bat at them... avoid garland if you can, cats like to play with that too lol

I've had cats all my life. I've never had one that tried to climb up the Christmas tree. They just like to sleep under it and play with the ornaments. I bought unbreakable oranments, so when Missy knocks them off they won't shatter and she won't get hurt.

I'm so glad you posted this b/c I'm in the same exact situation I just got two cats and we just bought a house so I really want to have a christmas tree! They are young kitties though and one is orange and he's crazy as is I can't imagine him with the tree.

lol my nutso cat is orange too! that one is almost a year old and my other cat is like 7 months old and shell be fine..but my orange one its nuts lol

People find this funny when i tell them but I have a snoring Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus I put under it because she is scared crap of the snoring (no we do not keep it on all the time because it annoys us humans too ). When she sees that she doesnt go under that much. Occasionally she will just sleep under it if she finds a spot but most of the time she isn't and only had a few problems with flying balls. I dont know if you can find something that will do the same but other than that my cat hasn't climb yet in the 9 years just swatted. Oh and keep very precious ornaments high and ones you don't really care for a little lower but not on the last branch though. Hope this helps and hope kitties enjoy thier first holiday!!.
