question for teachers

if you were leaving your job, how much notice did you give? my boss says that it is unprofessional to give 2 weeks notice b/c teaching is different from working in an office. what has been your experience?

I would, if you can, finish the contract that they gave you.

My district will hold you to 30 days!

I agree though you have a contract and you should try to finish it.

We had a girl that found another position and she resigned they were having trouble replacing her she had to come in for Sept. because it was part of the 30 days.

Not sure what my contract states, but what Swags said seems about right. I know they did that in my old district (30 days)...

But professionally, you really should try and finish out your contract. If that's not possible, understood, but 2 weeks is very short notice in education. You don't want to burn your bridges (for recomendations, etc.)
