Question for teachers. (repost from NW Board)

Hi all! I know there are a lot of you so I figured this would be a good place to ask.
I have my Bachelor Degree in English from GW University w. a minor in Writing. I have two semesters towards my Masters in English from Fordham.
Question:
What does it take from here to become a high school English or Writing teacher? I know the requirements may be different for Jersey, but what do you know about the NY requirements?

To be a high school English teacher in New York, you must have 36 credits in English (probably writing and literature courses) and 18 credits in education. You also need to take two parts of the New York State Certification Exam. Here is more info:

Teacher Requirements

Hope this helps.
