I'm sure those of you that are teachers know that there's almost always a shower thrown for fellow teachers for weddings/babies, etc. I know they're planning one for me, so....
my mom thinks my friends from work won't have to be invited to the actual shower my BP is throwing for me. Is that what you're doing? I'd sort of like some of them to be there cuz this way they meet up with my other friends whom they don't know before we all go out for the bachelorette party...but I dunno. BP might want to keep costs down!
My mom also thinks that this will save them a trip anyway, since my teacher friends are all in Jersey. They'll already have bought me gifts off my registry for my shower at school, so....
After all that yapping, what I want to know is- what are you doing?

Won't they feel like they have to get you two gifts though? I kinda feel bad about that!

Re: Question for Teachers - your shower
well at my work shower mostly people just chipped in for a gift card. Those people who knew they would get an invite did not get me a present.

I was in the same dilemma, but I decided to invite my friends..I asked them if they wanted to come or did they just want to do the shower in school and they all said they wanted to come......

I went to a friends shower last summer and I did give 2 gifts....I gave one at the school shower and then I gave one at her shower....But I didn't spend a ton of $ at the school shower

Re: Question for Teachers - your shower
I am in the same predicament and was considering not inviting the girls from school to my shower. My mom thought that I really should invite those girls who are invited to the wedding. So, I am going to, but I think that my real shower is going to be earlier, so hopefully those girls won't spend too much and can chip in less for the school one. It;s a tough one! You don't want to leave them out but don't want to ask too much of them!

I'm not inviting anyone from work either. As far as showers, I think it's polite to invite them to the real shower as well. Work showers are usually not a big deal, with people chipping in $5 or $10 for a gift card.

Re: Question for Teachers - your shower
Thanks everyone!
Thing is, my school is REALLY ridiculously generous. The shower I went to last fall was nuts!
What's crazy is that there's gonna be about 4-5 showers in the next few months before school is out! That's how many people are having babies, getting married! And one of these showers is for a guy - his wife is having their first child!

Re: Question for Teachers - your shower
Because U have a very small budget, I did not invite anyone from school to my wedding. therefore, clearly i could not invite them to my shower without inviting them to my wedding.
everyone at school was very generous... but gifts were given by grade level, or wing, etc. most people just contribute and throw in whatever they would like to for the group gift.... i wouldn't worry about it and invite them to your personal shower too!
