Question for the girls who have had Japanese straightening...
Can you still curl your hair with a curling iron or rollers if you want and will it stay??

I didnt have it done, my sister did. It does make your hair pin straight and a little hard to style. I know she tried curling her ends up and it really didnt hold. Its good for people who dont have the time to blow out and straighten hair. You can literally walk out w/wet hair and it dries straight. Just not much texture to grab a style. I have curly hair..much curlier than hers (hers is wavy..thats why she did it) so for me, I like having both options except in hot days like today!
It does eventually grow out in time and I think thats 6 months.

I blow dry my hair straight, but my hair is wavy, and still curls don't hold. I would love to have curly hair to have both options, I only have the option to get it straight.

Absolutely! That is the beauty of this. The hair stylist curled my hair for the wedding too.

I get my hair straightened (using the Japanese straightening). Yes it is pin straight! For my wedding, I really wanted curls so they used a curling iron and A LOT of hairspray! It really didn't feel too stiff during the day but it took me 3 shampoos to get it all out. When I went for my trial, they didn't use enough product so the curls fell out after a few hours but on my wedding day they stayed pretty much all night.

My friend got it done and she couldn't curl hers at all!

Hey, where on the Island can you get this done and how much? Is it really damaging to your hair? I would love to get this done. Maybe I'll treat myself after the wedding.

Did she have wavy or curly hair to start with?
Thanks for the replies everyone!
Also ... can anyone tell me what your ends look like about a month or so after getting it done?? Do they look a little fried? I met one girl who had it done and honestly her ends didn't look that good.

Her hair was curly but not very curly. She only did it once cause she didnt like it. She let it grow out.

Back to my sister and her straightening...she actually had hair that looked healthy and shiny and the ends looked fine. She got her haircuts in between. She also tends not to color her hair, EVER! Coloring can dry out hair, depending on what color. I know that is a thing with the straightening....they dont want hair colored in a certain time period. Just look into that.

Your hair looks really healthy. I never had split ends from it. But I don't dye my hair. If you highlight or dye, the JS will look dry.

Yeah, that's what I thought...
How curly was your hair before the straightening? Wondering if that has anything to do with how curl-able it is after the straightening.
