Question for those who don't live on LI re photographers

So there is a decent chance that my FH and I will not be living in NY by the time we get married..which is one of the reasons I am trying to get a lot of planning done early.

I have a couple of appointments with photographers this week and it got me thinking about what will happen after the wedding....if i live out of state do i have to come back to pick up my proofs and then come back again to get my albums?
Has anyone been in this situation before?
I guess i could have someone in the area pick them up and ship them...

I know it is early to think about this, but I was wondering incase I should bring it up when i meet with the photographers.

some places said that they have capabilities to do everything through the internet, i personally even though i am out of state want to go in to the shop and do everything
but if you cant i am sure there are ways the photographers work around it...make sure you bring this up when you book though

I'm not out of state, but I live in White Plains and Duet is kind of a hike. I did go out there to pick up my proofs and DVD, but they would have had no problem mailing me everything. In fact, they mailed me my thankyou pictures and they mailed me extra DVDs because mine were skipping.

I live 3000 miles away. My photog said he would fedex me the proofs and we could do everything that way. I'll probably take a weekend trip back (which I feel like I do every month now....) to plan out the albums and then to pick them up.

I live in Staten Island but my wedding was in Long Island so I used a Long Island Vendor, Duet. I do not regret using Duet, but it has been a pain in my butt driving back and forth 1 1/2 to 2 hours depending on traffic. I suppose you could ask which ever vendor you choose to mail your proofs etc. I am sure you would have to pay extra, but what can you do?

I am out of state-SC-havent even started on that but every vendor I have gone to has had no problem bending to that.
Im sure you will be able to do all that thru the mail, I would just let them know up front

My sister was living in Florida during the planning of her wedding and after her wedding as well. The photographer shipped all her proofs to her as well as the albums and her videos.

I know Patken puts the proofs on a website. We got married on a sunday. Doug from Patken sent us a link to our proofs that following monday morning. Check my wife's review on the Bride's review board . Her screen name is BriBri529. The link is on there.
