MY BM have their dresses. The wedding is 3 months away. One BM just told me she will be 3 months pregnant at the time of the wedding so she won't need another dress because she shouldn't be showing by then (I didn't necessarily agree) But another BM told me she will actually be 5 months pregnant and when I asked her - she confessed. I'm thrilled for her to have a baby and trust me - there are no issues with me having pregnant BM. However, she missed the deadline to order another dress because she still insists that she won't gain weight by 5 months. Keep in mind she was measured for the dress 2 weeks after her own wedding when she weighed less than she ever has (less than she does now) It still fits but she is only 8 weeks along (with severe morning sickness) now with 3 months to go. How can I convince her the dress won't fit? Don't even know if I can get another dress at this point for her. She never worries about anything. For her own wedding - she didn't think of getting herself shoes until the day before and she borrowed a pair that didnt come close to matching her dress. She's not a planner and I don't want to be a pain - but I don't see how she isn't going to gain weight by 5 months!!!!

Re: Question for those who have pregnant BM
See if you can order some extra fabric. I think with some dresses the seamstress can add a panel or something if their bellies do grow. Why do they think they wont be showing? Is it their second pregnancy?

Re: Question for those who have pregnant BM
I agree with Julz33....what type of dress is it?? What color is it?? I know David's Bridal got my girls' dresses in about 2-3 weeks...if you don't mind her being slightly off in color, she could do that. My pregnant BM ordered her own dress but she was 7 months and it was a dress with an empire waist and the flowy fabric was a panel that was able to be let out. Her alterations were done 3 days before my wedding since they didn't know how big she would be.

Re: Question for those who have pregnant BM
The dresses are white with pink stripes so she can't really add fabric to it too easily - it is going to be tough to match. I'm just annoyed because she missed the deadline to orde another one and she knew she'd need it. Also annoyed that she told me she was going to be 3 months pregnant and not 5 months pregnant. I don't want to add to her stress but if she doesn't order the dress now - she'd going to be in trouble later.
I just spoke to someone else who is pregnant who said there is no way she won't be showing.

Re: Question for those who have pregnant BM
That's tough! Sorry she did that to you! I had quite the belly at 5 months so I don't know how she'd think she wouldn't.
Anyway, do you have a pic of the BM dresses? I can do a little research for you to try to find a match! (My daughter is napping so I'm B-O-R-E-D! )

Re: Question for those who have pregnant BM
Here is the dress. It is prettier in person. Hard to match though. It's made by Kathlin Argiro here in NYC. Bloomies sold it last year so I'm hoping maybe they will have it again.
Wow! That dress is gorgeous! LOL...it's going to be tough to find a maternity dress that's anything like it.... Hmmmmmm......

Re: Question for those who have pregnant BM
Call the place that you ordered the dress from. Tell them that one of your BM is pregnant & will be 5 months by the time your wedding rolls around. Ask them if they can fix the dress if need be. (I was given that option when I was pregnant) Maybe they can change the size anyway. They might be able to do it.

Re: Question for those who have pregnant BM
Yeah - well she told me last week and said she was just pregnant about 2 weeks or so. Even so - I should have done the math myself and figured she would be closest to four months since she'd have to be close to a month along if she knew. But the fact that she will be over 5 months means she will definitely be showing. I have a MOH and 2 BM so it is going to look strange for her to have a new dress that doesn't match. If she was the MOH - it might be Ok not to match.
I'm thinking that maybe because the dress is A line and so long - converting it to an empire waist might work. They could just raise it up so the skirt comes up above her waist instead of at the waist. I just don't think the size 4 she has right now is going to do the trick no matter what they do to it!

Re: Question for those who have pregnant BM
I'm going to tell you what everyone on here told me when I found out about my pregnant BM and that she was going to be WAY further along than I thought:
They all told me that it didn't matter what she wore or what she looked like or anything at all yada yada yada.... anyway, apparently (according to the answers I got) she is your friend and she happens to be pregnant, who cares if she doesn't fit into her dress? She can wear whatever she wants to at your wedding, just because she is pregnant. And, if the dress looks ridiculously tight on her, oh well, she is your friend. You shouldn't stress about the dress situation because she will look beautiful no matter what and you should let her wear and do whatever makes her happy and comfortable otherwise you are not a good friend. Oh yeah, and who cares if you wanted all your BMs to match and now she might have to wear a different dress even though she is not the maid of honor. It saddens me that you would even think of that. (listen for the sarcasm )
Now, back to reality. What I would do is what another poster said. Call the shop and find out what your options are realistically and what they can work with. Good luck!
