Dont know anything about a special pill made for traveling but personally, i would not take a sleeping pill when flying . If there were ever an emergency evacuation, I would want to be alert.

Re: Question for those who travel

My sister is a RX and took it on a flight that she took right after 9/11 to a state she has never been to. She said she would never ever do it again. She took 1/2 of the dosage and said the whole first day of the vacation was a complete blur.

According to her husband (since she dosnt remember any of it) she slept through the whole flight popped up the min it started to land and then took charge with out saying a word, she led them to the bagage claim, to the rent a car center, and then proceded to give directions to him to get them to the hotel. She checked them in and then went to the room and passed out again for the rest of the day.

She said she would never recommend any of her friends taking it although somepeople pop the stuff like candy she said she dosnt know how they function.

I've taken Tylenol PM on long flights, like to Australia, but certainly not on flights shorter than 9 hours. It didn't make me too groggy. I have Ambien, which is a sleepy pill, but I wouldn't recommend it on planes unless your flight is at least 12 hours long. That stuff really knocks you out!

I had a prescription for Xanax, and honestly I didn't feel a damn thing. I get more woozy from Vicodin than Xanax... but if you don't have an Rx, I would just recommend Benadryl or Dramamine or something else to make you sleepy (nothing that will last too long, like the examples from the other girls!)

It'll be ok!

Re: Question for those who travel

I don't take a thing but I guess I'd take dremamine if I had to.

The movement of the airplane taking off puts me to sleep. I don't know why. I usually nap until we level off then I wake up.

But I fly tons so it's probably that Im used to it. Still I got rather nervous on my first flight after 9/11 (lots of turbulance) and Jim asked if I wanted to take something. All I could think about was I wanted to be alert. It was just an extra extra bumpy ride. Most of the people in the plane were hanging on tightly. The pilot came on a few times to apologize. Thank god it was a direct flight it was hard enough once in a day much less doing it more than that.

Now ... I fly again like it's nothing.

Good Luck!

my MIL gave us Rufies (used as sleeping pills in Spain) for our trip from Madrid to CA...it was great...

I also used tylenol PM on Tokyo - NY.. I was only awake for 3 hours of it...
