I usually use ivory soap to wash my face. This customer had come in and she was celebrating her 80th birthday and I swear I would have thought she was 50. She said she always used ivory soap. It was so clear and wrinkle free. That is when I switched. If I do get a break out I dab a little bit of rubbing alcohol on it to dry it out.

I''ve been using Cetaphil - it is really gentle and is recommended by dermatologists. My skin is always acting up somehow no matter what I try and this has been great since I starting using it.

AM: Proactive cleanser & Proactive toner, but then I use prescription medicines (Metrogel for roseaca on cheeks and RetinA Micro for rest of face. I don''t use the Proactive lotions.
Then I use Cetaphil Sunscreen moisturizing lotion.

PM: Dove soap and another prescription medicine that has 7% benzoil peroxide. I used to use it in the am but it bleached out a few sweaters around the neckline, not sure how but I switched it to nighttime.

some girls I know swear by Cetaphil cleanser. My cousins have been using Proactive for years and love it. I have been using it for 1 year and you have to use it daily to see results. CVS carries a 10% benzoil peroxide wash - I use it only when I get a huge zit and only as a lotion (dot it on the zit) to dry it out fast.

Best thing to do is go see a dermatologist and ask him/her what''s best to use on your skin. What works for me may not work for you and vice versa. But good luck!!!

ps: drink tons of water too and cut back on sugary stuff like white bread, pasta, potatos, rice if you can - I''ve read where people saw change in face acne-wise if they did that. And if you like plain yogurt, eat a cup or 2 a day because I think the bacteria in that also helps.

When I was having problems with my skin, I got a prescription from my family doctor for Benzamycin.

It''s a benzyol peroxide/erythromycin cream.

The stuff is MIRACULOUS!!

The only thing is that it can be drying, so I used it every other day instead of everyday.

It cleared up my skin, and it stayed clear even after I stopped using it!!

Before that I had tried lots of things, Murad, Proactiv, Clean & Clear, etc.

Good luck!!

I also used what kmcwed used, but now they make Benzaclyn. This does NOT have to be refrigerated. It is by prescription only.

I have been using the new Eucerin face wash, astringent, and face lotion. They seem to work very well!

I have TERRIBLE skin, and this is my routine. It''s very inexpensive, which is nice.

I use Cetaphil cleanser and Neutrogena Pore Refining toner every day.

Once a week, I use St. Ives Medicated facial scrub.

Bi-weekly I use a clarifying mud mask.

Before I got pregnant I used Tazorac for breakouts. My skin obviously misses it terribly because I look like a 'connect the dots' picture lately.
