Question for those with the kids.

I have a 6 month old who is the most beautiful little girl. She will be 14 months by the wedding but I am not sure what I should do regarding the service and what I should after. I was thinking of having someone take her during the ceremony and then when we walk in carry her in with us because she is our little girl. Then her staying fir a few songs and have a dance as a family then have her go home. What are you doing with your kids? If you have any ideas let me know.

XOXO

Re: Question for those with the kids.

My son will be 22 months on our wedding day! He's going to be our best man! (The priest ok'd it) So he will be up on the alter w/ my FH. Afterwards he will be at the reception. Probably the whole night. He will probably find a nice corner to fall asleep. You can either have someone leave & mind her or, bring a playpen or stroller to the hall & let her sleep. I'm sure even w/ the excitement they will sleep!!

Re: Question for those with the kids.

I think it is important that your daughter attend your ceremony as long as she is okay with you up at the altar and her in a chair with your parents or close friend. I think a family dance at the reception is a beautiful idea. I also think it is a good idea for you and your husband to have a few hours to enjoy the wedding and have her with a babysitter.

Re: Question for those with the kids.

I have a son from my previous marriage, who will be 5 at the time of the wedding. He'll be walking me down the aisle, and my FH will be giving him a 'family medallion' at the ceremony (it's on a necklace) to let him know that this marriage is the 3 of us, not just my FH and myself.

Re: Question for those with the kids.

Our kids are bigger so this may not help you (8 & 15) our Daughter was my flower girl & our Son was a groomsman. Brian is 15 & didn't want any spotlight at all-he did dance with me once. Nicole on the other hand danced several times with us. We lit our unity candle with the kids(they are each from previous relationships)& we said very short family vows. Even our invitations had their names on them.
I think since your daughter is small you should plan on including her in your ceremony in some way & then have a babysitter @ the reception to care for her-the bridal suite idea is a good one, you & FH won't be in it anyway.
Good luck to the three of you

Re: Question for those with the kids.

We debated over this for hours and hours. We ultimately decided to keep her at the hall with us. We have a babysitter coming to take care of her. I would have liked to keep her their for awhile and then send her home with the babysitter but I wasn't too comfortable with that. My parents are going to take her home after the reception.
