question for Town of Hempstead girls (or their FH's)

So... my mom is re-doing her kitchen. We had a crack in one of the water pipes and it had to be replaced and was. Someone called the town on us saying we did pluming work without a permit. So now we have to get a permit. Find. An inspector is going to come and check it out.
Does anyone know if they are going to inspect ALL the plumming in the house or just what was worked on? The house was built in the 1800's and we've living in the house for 28 year and have had plumming done since then obv. but we haven't done any plumming in the house for AT LEAST the last 7-8 years. Do we have to worry about the inspector looking at EVERYTHING?

(don't quote)

FM if anything.

Your neighbors are dbags for starters. Nothing better to do than give you headaches and to spend more money b/c people can't mind their own business. I wish diarrhea on who ever called on you guys. Aholesssssss

Neways, I am going to talk to FH and see what he says, although I want to say that they just need to inspect the work that is being done. I'll ask FH and get back to you.

I am 99% sure its only the work that is being done, not prior or previous work.

We just re-did our entire plumbing........but when the town came to inspect, the one guy came to inspect the plumbing since it was new. Then after, when we worked and re-did our kitchen, the guy came and ONLY checked the kitchen, since thats what he was called in for...

I am pretty certain they will only check your kitchen as well

I'll ask Mike for you. His dad owns a plumbing company and is also an inspector

Well.. lol we had the plummer come but he's a dbag and my mom basically threw him out of the house. The contracter who we loved called his plummer but the original plummer reported us to the town.

I called my mom b/c she knows all....

She said they may or may not notice the work, they might ask for the CO for the new work and ask you to get a CO for that work, and it will be added to your tax roll.

If the work was not done properly they might make you take it down or fix it to make it meet code (and then add to tax roll).

hmm.. the only work that was done is replacing a pipe that is now behind a wall. I guess a CO is the contractor? We are curious though cuz the plummer now wants us to replace a hot water pipe downstairs in the basement but it has nothing to do with the work we're doing now and it's a lot of $.

The CO is the approval from the town. If there is no CO, and they are asking you to redo the work it might be because it is not meeting code and in order to issue you a CO you need to do the work to make it to code first.
