So we are watching a show where the family have 5 kids (all girls!!!!) and from there we start to talk about what are we going to do when we dont want more kids.. I told him he should get a Vasectomy and he said that I should be the one getting 'fixed'.. So we start telling our points of view and then he decided that he wants to know what other women think about this subject... WHat do you girls plan to do when that point ir reached...

I guess its all up to the couple...whoever is more willing to go through with the procedure. If neither want to...well it looks like protection/bc forever. lol.

I'll get my tubes tied... no big deal to me. You can get it done while you're in the hospital after having a baby. That's what my mom did.

A vasectomy is a relatively simple outpatient procedure. Tubal ligatation, aka getting your tubes tied is major surgery. No question about it, the man should be the one to get 'fixed'. The procedure is a lot less risky, plus the woman has been through enough giving birth! Just my opinion.

Well....FH and I do not want any kids and being on the pill is not exactly healthy when you get into your late 30's so he said he would get fixed... although I don't know if they will do one if you don't already have kids.... am I wrong about that???

Just to jump in....If I have c-sections and I happen to be open, then I don't mind getting my tubes tied. However, should I give birth naturally, there is no way I am going in for surgery when he can do an in and out procedure.

Re: Question from my FH to everyone in the chat lol
IMO i think the guy should get it done... more so then not, it's reversible for the guy.. if they girl gets her tubes tied, that's it no more kid.... one day you might decide to have more kids, even if you have 2, after 5 i dunno.. lol... but i've had this conversation with a bunch of married women with children, and 1 out of 5 got her tubes tied, the others their husbands got the 'V' ... plus if they women are still young, they have more problems as they get older with getting the tubes tied, men dont have as much risk in health because of it.... I talked to FH about it once, and he's not to sure, but i'm sorry i'm not risking my life, because he doesn't want to get snipped.. lol...

ditto
men don't realize how invasive getting your tubes tied is. vasectomies are so much easier
and some times doctors won't 'tie your tubes' when you are 35 or under. my mom had that problem when she had me years ago. her doc nearly refused to do it---since she kept telling my mother 'what if you divorce and want another kid???' my mom had to sign all kinds of releases concerning it!

I would probably do it. I have so many issues down there that I will probably have to get something removed anyway.

FH already said that he would do it because it's such a simple procedure for men!

Oh boy, I didn't get that far in my mind yet I think I might be the one to get 'fixed,' but I don't know, I want to do some research about it first.. FH told me that guys who get vasectomies no longer ejaculate? They come but nothing comes out (sorry for being so graphic with u girls! ) Is that even true?? It doesn't seem true at all... I don't know if I'd like that..and I know he wouldn't like that!

I'm with the 'winging it' club. If push came to shove for some reason, he'd be the one getting snipped since its the healthier/easier choice. I don't think I'd ever want either of us to do anything before I'm 35..as long as I'm still at the age of a healthy pregnancy I wouldn't want to make any final decisions...

We're in a similar situation as we don't want kids either. I think once we're married for a few years we'll discuss it, but I don't think he'd have a problem getting 'fixed'.
As for your question, I don't think it matter if you have kids already or not, I think a lot of Dr.'s depend it on age. My one friend was 27 and had 3 kids already and her dr wouldn't tie her tubes. A few months later she was prego with her 4th and now her hubby got fixed. I think a vasectomy is a lot easier to reverse then having your tubes tied.

Vasectomy. I've been the one on birth control so I think it should be his turn to do something! lol
