So we are watching a show where the family have 5 kids (all girls!!!!) and from there we start to talk about what are we going to do when we dont want more kids.. I told him he should get a Vasectomy and he said that I should be the one getting 'fixed'.. So we start telling our points of view and then he decided that he wants to know what other women think about this subject... WHat do you girls plan to do when that point ir reached...

I told FH the same thing and he is willing to do that, as long as 'it will still feel good for him'

I honestly might just get a hysterectomy to make thing easier on me... No more period!!!!!!

Nope, your FH is wrong! Everything comes out as usual, it's just not fertilized sperm. If nothing comes out obviously something went wrong in the surgery

We've talked about it and he said he would probably have the vasectomy, but I would never ask him to, I told him it was totally his call. But I dont think I'd want to get my tubes tied.

I have a 15% chance of going into early menopause after I finish chemo and radiation, so I think that may take care of that! :)

but seriously, FH and me decided a long time ago to just keep using condoms and if God wants us to be parents, we'll be parents.

Fh and I have only discussed having kids not when to stop is that bad? We know we would like 2 or 3 but hmmm we haven't talked about this topic yet......

if someone already said this i apologize, i didnt go through and read all of the responses....but as a science teacher when a woman gets a hysterectomy or her tubes tied after having children it causes you to go through the same symptoms and experiences as a women in her late 50's going through menopause. men on the other hand do not have this effect, their hormones have much less to do with their sex drive and overall funtioning AND vasectomys are reversable! also its an out patient surgery, noninvasive and does not require a hospital stay.....i know their sensitive about their equipment but its MUCH less dramatic of an experience then a womens procedure!

FH already said he is getting it done when the time is right....its funny b/c his Dad actually got it done, so i tell him he will follow in his footsteps

when we decide that we are done for sure (which FH thinks will be after 2) he will have the procedure done - but we'll also bank sperm just in case (like if it cannot be reversed).......god forbid something happened to one or all of my children there is a chance that we might want to have another one someday so at least we will still have the option.....

i think its a good idea......i can only imagine how much better your sex life is when you dont have to worry!

A vasectomy is a relatively simple outpatient procedure. Tubal ligatation, aka getting your tubes tied is major surgery. No question about it, the man should be the one to get 'fixed'. The procedure is a lot less risky, plus the woman has been through enough giving birth! Just my opinion.

EXACTLY what i was going to say. it's just less risky for the man, and the woman usually bears the burden of birth control for all the years before surgery is an option.

oh god .. condoms... doesnt that get on your nerves... we tried that route and we jus couldnt do it
