Are your mom's excited/involved in the wedding planning?



Mine hates anything to do with weddings and wedding planning and has no interest in our (meaning mine and FH's) big day....wasn't excited when we got engaged and is telling us to just go to city hall and get married there because weddings are a waste of money and time...


needless to say my mom is not helping us with the wedding in any way what-so-ever


but i wanted to see if there was anyone else who has a mother like mine...although i just want to hear that you all are having waaay more positive experiences than I am

My mother is not that thrilled, she keeps telling me that 'you aren't married yet, so if you see something better, go after it.'

I have ranted about it on here before, it frustrates me. She is not contributing to the wedding, partially because she doesnt have any money, and probably partially because she thinks I can do better.

My grandmother is supportive, bought my dress for me, but when I told her FH and I were engaged, her response was 'uh-oh, I was afraid of that.'


HIS mother is THRILLED, keeps talking to everyone about it, about us, our hall, the ring, cannot wait to go shopping for her dress, etc.

do you think maybe your mom will come around once you get closer to the date or not so much?

I was really shocked by how excited my mom was and is about the whole wedding. My mom is not the type of person that really shows excitment. She has gone to all of the halls with me along with my sister as I was searching. She is not helping with paying for the wedding-because she can't afford it-I know she wishes she could, she has offered to pay for my dress.

I think she's excited because I'm the youngest of three and who knows if my brother or sister will ever get married and if they do will do the whole big wedding.

FH's mom is excited too, he is the middle child of three and is the last to get married. I think she is happy that she won't have to worry about him being alone and that he will have someone to take care of him. His family is very supportive.

My mom is really excited. She has been buying me these bridal magazines, and showing me different ideas. I think she thinks this will bring us closer...because we are not 'super' close...

my mom and i are not close at all and she thinks weddings are stupid...

but its soooooo awesome to see that your mom is excited about the wedding! Gives me hope that maybe my mom will turn around and surprise me eventually
