Question of The DAY! 4/01/08

Original post by Kimbalina

I was listening to Z100 this morning and they were talking about a woman who was;

A Surrogate Mom and gave birth to 12 babies as a LIVING! She has made roughly $100,000.- per Birth.

WOULD YOU EEVR BE A SURROGATE MOM? Either for cash or for maybe a friend or family member?

um I want to say yes I would be able to be a serogate for a stranger...but I don't honestly know.

I would do it for my sisters in a heart beat because I know they would do the same for me.

But....I would love to give another family the oppurtunity to have a complete family. I just don't know if I am a strong enough woman to go through the whole process and go home empty handed physcially and emotionally. I know I would be helping another family and that would give me pride and happiness. But I don't know if I could have a baby living in me for 9 months and then give it to the parents (even though technically the child is not mine- not my egg or fh's sperm obviously) I just think it would be hard.

For a stranger, you would be paid. So there is something you are going home with, although not a child.

no not for a stranger. I would do it for someone i am EXTREMELY close to and they were trying for a while and it wasnt happening and i saw what they were going through THEN i would. But even in that situation it is so hard. You are pregnant for 9 months and all mothers say they felt a bond with the baby before it was born, then to give birth to it and say ok here is your baby and thats it. I think i would probably go through alot of emotional problems bc of that

i would probably do it for my SIL, FSIL or one of my best friends. i think it's kind of weird though. what would it be like seeing a child all the time that YOU carried, but belongs to someone else? that would just be hard.

i dont know - i think if a family member couldnt conceive i might be willing to do it but im not sure b/c thats something you could only know if you were put in that situation.....if it were for A LOT of money and we were in money troubles you never know....it would be a difficult decision to make but i would consider it especially for someone who is a good parent like my FSIL - if she couldnt have another baby i would think about doing it for her and i hope she would feel the same way if i couldnt have a baby....

In theory I think it is a wonderful thing to do for someone-but I don't think I would be ok at the end of it. What if I agreed to it, and then after 9 months I am totally attached to the baby, and change my mind? I wouldn't want to do that to anyone. Tough question...

I would do it for family only.

the woman they were talking about said that being she has 2 of her own daughters and she was doing this for money purly to raise them, She did not become attached to ANY of the babies.

BTW she makes $100,000.- a pregnancy. That is a lot of money for 9 months

i think she is a good person for doing and the 100 grand does not hurt much either- but you have to be able to do it and deal with your choices- i never wanted childern either but then... there came a time when it changed- and then everything changes

i would not change a thing - love my babies soooo much

I couldnt do it....I would get attached to the baby that I carried around for 9 months!

I would never ask anyone to do it for me either!

I couldnt imagine growing a life inside of me for 9 months and then having to give it away the minute the baby comes out. Then again if it was for my sister and she couldnt have kids and desperately wanted to, I might be able to do it.

I would do it in a heartbeat for my sisters or even a close friend who I consider a sister. I would not do it for money or for a stranger.
