~Question of the Day - Wednesday, April 27th~

When did you first meet your future in-laws? How did it go?

Even though FH and I went to college together, I didn't meet his parents until we actually started dating. It was a bit awkward because we met at one of his softball games & FH had asked if I could stay over the night before so I wouldn't have to drive from Westchester to LI early in the morning in order to get to the game on time. FH has his own apartment at his parent's house so he supposedly 'slept' on the futon and I stayed in his bedroom (and the rooms are basically next to each other). His parents are very traditional and religious so this was a big no no at first but now I'm there all the time and they're fine with it. It's to the point that if I don't come down on a weekend b/c I have other plans, they worry that something's wrong lol.

I met FH's parents the first week we were dating at a baseball game he was playing at. I had already met his brother, SIL and cousin, who I saw sitting on the bleachers and I went to sit with them. His cousin introduced them as Uncle x and Aunt y, but never mentioned they were FH's parents and I didn't connect it at first! I was polite and friendly anyway but then at some point it dawned on me they were his parents!

It went well, FH told me they liked me.

I met FH's parents about 4 months into dating. I went to their house for dinner one night after work. I had no idea that he literally had told them NOTHING about me, so it was like a game of 20 questions all night.

We got along well and they had me back over the following week, so that was nice.

Turns out, I learned later that FH never brought his girlfriends around and I was the first ever. Yes, really! lol

I met FH's parents about 4 months in---they, with the rest of his family live up in Boston- so it was my first time in Boston, and first time meeting his parents, his 5 siblings & their families, so it was a bit overwhelming...but it's all good now- I usually make a long weekend trip up there about every 3 months

I never got to meet fh mom. She died when he was 10.
I got to meet fh dad once about 4 months after we stArted dating. He had parkinsons and it was pretty advanced by that time. He actually was not able to speak by that point so we had to communicate by him trying to write questions down for me to answer.

It stinks that I never really got to meet either of his parents

FH mother died when he was 3 years old.. he never really got to know his mother.
I met FIL and his wife... Hanuakah dinner , one month after we started to date. He left me in the living room with all his aunts and uncle. I wanted to kill him but who knew I would be marrying him LOL

We started daiting May 17th and I met FH's parents for a 4th of July BBQ! It was so smooth and perfect, they're so easy to get along with and we clicked!

FH and I were friends for several years before getting together, so I had already met his parents and been to their house numerous times. It was a nice easy transition LOL

I met FH's parents after a couple of weeks and it wasnt a planned meeting... FH stopped by their house to pick up his laundry and told me to come in so it was kinda awkward.. especially bc I dont think they knew about me yet and they thought I looked like I was about 12

I met my FMIL a little under 2 months of us dating and we got along amazing. I was able to be myself and to this day we get along great as does both our families. We spend holidays together now. My FHs father passed away a year before we met.

I met my future mother in law first. It was a saturday in November and his mom was up from FL for Thanksgiving i was on my lunch hour and FH after he took me to lunch he was like we have time before you have to go back to work do you want to meet my mom. I was like UM okay..lol I was like i look like crap i don't want to meet your mother looking this crap, my hair was a mess, and i wear baggy clothes when i work at king kullen because they are comfortable and what not. So when we got to his house it was really awkward because i was still in my King kullen unifrom and what not. But it was okay because after the inital shock we got along great. I did not meet the rest of the family until Thankgiving dinner. LOL

I met FH's parents a few months after we started dating at a family bbq. So I not only met his parents but his ENTIRE family lol. But everyone was so nice and welcoming- it went well! But i was a nervous wreck beforehand lol.

I actually met FMIL before I met FH. I worked with her & she told me I was perfect for her son. I told her to hook us up!

That's it in a nut shell.

I don't remember the 1st time meeting FFIL or the other family

I met FH's mother about two weeks after we started dating. We used to be out until 7am every day sitting in his car and his mom thought something was wrong with him. Finally he confessed he had a girlfriend. ( I was his first) So he brought me home so that we could chill in his room and I started sleeping over. She was happy that he finally got a girl, so was his sister.

A few months later I met his father who lives in Egypt. I feared meeting him because everyone doesn't like him and I can see why. He was skeptical about me and thought I would use his son for money since his FH's brother's girlfriend did that.

I actually formally met FFIL Christmas 2009. We had spoken on the phone back and forth but since he lives in chicago and rarely comes down to NY we never met until that christmas.

Now FH's grandmother who raised him and is like his mother, I met her two months after FH and I started dating when we went on vacation to mexico. It's funny b/c she was already talking about marriage to us and I remember thinking, lady we have only been dating 2 months. And look .. here we are almost 7 years later planning our wedding. When she found out we were finally getting married she stated that her Prayers had finally been answered!!! She's a doll.

I met FH's mom a couple of months after we started dating. There's a language barrier, FH's mom speaks Chinese, but she seemed to like me. I haven't met FH's dad because he lives in Hong Kong.

FH's best friend's parents are like his second parents and they really love me a lot. I met them a couple of months after we started dating. Now the dad and I bake for eachother.

I met everyone like a week after we started dating. FH called me up and asked if I could pass by the house to say hello to his father. So I went, and his mother ended up being there as well as his grandparents LOL. It was nice thought because they went out of their way to make me feel comfortable.

I love them, and they actually joke now that they like me better than their own son
