Question on behalf of a recently engaged friend!

Need some help from you chickadees.

Friend/coworker recently got engaged (yay!!!)

She's looking to throw a high-end BBQ-style reception. Think super Martha Stewart: rustic, homey, warm, that kinda thing. NOT WHITE TRASHY like I would choose to do.

I only visited 4 RHs when Neel and I were looking for a hall, so I don't know much about the other halls LI has to offer.

Any halls do this kinda thing? She's also looking into getting a raw space and bringing in an outside caterer/waitstaff/tables/linens/etc etc etc but would much prefer a hall where this can be done on-site.

TIA ladies!

the only thing that might not work is if it rains.. if shes looking to do an outdoor reception.

what about a vinyard out east??? or queens farm in little neck?

OR a country club.. under a tent

I am having what I am calling a 'formal BBQ'!! I'm not sure what or where she is looking, but Mill Pond Country Club in Medford will work out any menu idea you can imagine. And if it rains they have an indoor grill. HTH

I mentioned the farm to her, she's looking into that.

Vineyards are a good point - I never went out there.

She doesn't need the actual BBQs to be out for all to see - in fact, she'd prefer not to have them all smoky and crap out there.

maybe The Foundry in Long Island City. I mention it bc it's the only place I looked at that was ala carte and mostly a blank canvas.

rememeber that place oyu told me about out east?

they had a space that you could pull a bbq-ish thing off in quite nicely.

i was just too cheap to pay to use there.

i wish i was having a high end bbq.

or a low end bbq.

fuckkk i wish i was serving cereal.

I think it depends on her budget. There are a couple of places in the hamptons that cater clam bakes.

ALso the farm in little neck can be really cute, but I could get a price per person from them.

I really wanted a casual style wedding like this.

I think Lessings does BBQ, plus they have a plethora of spaces to have it in.

What about Martha Clara Vineyard on the North Fork?

Kris, I bet Old Field Club would do something like this...there's definitely a chance. They basically seem like they'll do whatever you want. And if she does a buffet sort of thing she can probably get the price pp down.

I know that Martha Clara does do it....they have this adorable rustic barn where they have receptions, very chic though. However, I didn't have the best experience with them for our eparty, they are terribly disorganized....but that was almost 2 years ago so things could have changed.

Definitely Queens County Farm. A former class mate was supposed to get married there May 1st and it sounded like it would've been a beautiful wedding. Very Martha Stewart high class BBQ-like.

I had my enagement party at OWG, and it would be perfect for this. I have some pics in my album. We hired an outside caterer who was incredible. We had the Orchard Hill House, private entrance. Ours was a brunch- style, but my dad was really pushing for a bbq b/c the menu for the bbq looked unreal.

FM for more info, and i can send you the link to my online photo gallery.
