Question on Ceremony Music?

I feel clueless about this... We are having a Catholic ceremony mixed with a Christian Indian ceremony. I thought we would just have an organ player, but the church said it was standard to have a singer too? I have also read about others using a string quartet or trumpets but how do you incorporate it all into the ceremony? I am just curious how everyone is planning there music for the ceremony so maybe I can get some ideas!

and luckily from another bride who got married there, he is flexible on music selections.. but I don't see why you HAVE to have a singer..

Most Catholic masses have a singer in addition to some type of musical instrument. Often the person playing the organ will also sing.
I hired a soloist and a harpist instead of an organist. My Church is great about stuff like that. Some make you pay for their musician even if you do not want to use him/her. Mine deducts the cost from our bill since we are not using theirs.
The soloist helps to aid with the mass, just like they do on Sundays.

I am having the organist/singer who sang at my mom's wedding sing/play at mine. He works in a neighboring parish and said he was available. I had to just ask my church permission first. The church said it was ok but I still have to play the full church fee (I am not sure if it is because I told them recently or if it is the policy of this church - - although I having been calling my priest for over a month before he called me back!!!).
