question on DJ pricing...

What is the AVERAGE price for a DJ??????????

What we need/want:

-basic lightshow, we don't want a nightclub, but we don't want it too boring

-we don't really care much about the give-aways

-DJ AND EMCEE (2man)

-5 hour RECEPTION (do not need for CH)

FH is stressing out more and more about $$, and the next thing to book is the DJ so I'd like to give him some sort of warning as to a round-about cost.

We met with a DJ several months ago and the price they quoted was RIDICULOUS!

With Body Rock- you'd get all this in the basic package for $1700. I looked into one other DJ company and they were $2300 for the same thing. HTH!

We are going with Ultimate Sounds, their base packages for 2 man crew and basic lights is around $1199. We are having them for 5 hrs no CH, so they gave us a break on the OT charge, instead of charging $250 he is charging us $150, the CH price.
