Question on not making Min, head count

So I am afraid that FH and I will be about 17 people short from meeting our min. Our headcount is due 11/21

Just wondering how many others out there were short and was your RH willing to work with you on that?

People say you can ask for extras but what would be reasonable?

Any help would be much appreciated.

TIA Ladies

i am worried that we wont make our minimum either... with our venue.. they said that the vendors can count if we do not make the minimum..

im not sure if yours does.. or if they all do..

I was really nervous about this too. We were about 11 under.

We went into the last meeting with the BM expecting to have to 'play hardball', but she made it seem easy and like common sense.. that if we are paying for 11 people, that we can use that money towards something else..

e.g. if it were 11 people at 100, we had $1100 to 'play with'.. we ordered extra desserts and a coffee/cordial station during the cake.

Yeah thats what I was thinking but I dont know if all RH's are that 'easy' to get along with or if they are hard @sses.
Like my dad says, it doesnt hurt to ask.....the worst that can happen is they say no.....

just ask - like you said the worst thing will be for them to say no
do you have any children coming - instead of paying extra on top of the minimum you can include kids and vendors maybe

I agree.
If your RH can work with you, then that's great.
If they won't work with you and insist that you pay for the number of people under, then you insist that they wrap up the corresponding number of dinners for you to take home.
My RH did that for the 8 no-shows.

I know your RH, They will add in your vendors before they will do anything. Then talk to them, we were about 3 short when we gave our final count but wound up being over the day of so it worked out for us

Good Luck, I hope they do something for you

We were short about the same # as you.

First, they added in all the vendors and kids at full price (instead of paying for them AFTER paying for the minimum).

They threw in an extra carving station, and we took home some dinners and some dessert.

It can't hurt to ask, my advice is to be nice about it , instead of demanding and argumentative (more bees with honey) ....

i was short 15 people, and they wouldn't do anything for us, If our vendors were not house vendor and ate for free we would have counted them, we were actually shorter then that, but counted kids as adults.. We just s u c k e d it up and paid it, what were we going to do.
oh btw-they did offer to let us take home the dinners we paid for, or donate them, we wanted to take them home, but no one ever gave them to us

Re: Question on not making Min, head count

We were about 25 under after the vendors were included and my hall did nothing for us and they wouldnt even let us take home the extra dinners. It was complete BS because it was like $3,000. The only thing they could do was offer people seconds. So I told all of my family and close friends to order seconds, and I know of a few people that did. Every hall is different though. Good luck!!!
