Question on RSVP's from Europe?

Question on RSVP's from Europe?

I'd really like to provide stamps on the RSVP's for the people I am inviting from Ireland and England. I was thinking that I would ask my mother to send me some stamps from Ireland that I could put on the RSVP envelopes to those guests, but what about the folks in the UK? It would kind of defeat the purpose to ask my best friend over there to buy them, only for her's and another two invites.

Do you think it would be rude not to put any stamps on them at all?

You could bring the RSVP card to the post office along with a list of addresses and they will tell you what postage is required for that country back to the US.

Thanks. That's true. But how would the postage work? Wouldn't I still have to get the stamps from overseas?

yes. they can't use US postage to mail anything from out of the US.

That's what I figured. Back to the drawing board...

I am sure that the post office deals with this situation all the time. Have you called the post office and asked them?

I don't think it's rude at all to not put stamps on a few response envelopes. Every wedding that I've been invited to outstide of LI hasn't had a stamp on the envelope. I think we have too much stuff to worry about to stress over not having stamps on a few envelopes.

i didn't put return stamps on those going overseas. You can't. And our parents told us that these people would probably call to respond anyway.

I called the usps customer service and they were no help. They said I'd have to go to my local post office

Thanks, Ladies. I guess I just wanted to make sure you didn't think it was improper etiquette not to put stamps on them.

I'm doing the same thing. I'm not even putting the response card in it for the overseas invites. My family wouldn't be able to understand. Only a couple of them speak english. We already know who's coming anyway. If anyone else decides to come they will call.

I am in the same situation and the people in the post office told me I just can't put any stamps on the responses-so i figured it wont be that big of a deal-we also pretty much know who is coming from Ireland already

You need to go to the post office and ask for an International Postage Certificate. You basically pay the postage and you include the certificate in their invite. They then take oit to the post office in Ireland or England and exchange it for stamps.

I had this problem to. Some of the smaller post offices (East Northport) had no idea what I was talking about but Huntington did.
