Question on sending invites (please give your opinion)

OK. My wedding is Aug 29 this year (Friday of Labor Day weekend). My brother is getting married June 21 in New Hampshire which we will be leaving for on the 19th.

Question: Should I send the invites out before or after we leave.

I have off on Wednesdays so I will hand cancel them on the 18th. If I wait until we get back the invites would not go out until 6-25 so people out of state will not get them for a few days after that. My reply date is July 25th.

Is it bad if they get home from one wedding in my family and as soon as they walk in the door they have another invite to MY wedding (but all of my family already knows the date)??

Please give me your opinion. I need to decide

I would send them out sooner than later. I am getting married on the 4th of July. We invited 350 people and only have 220 coming alot has to do with the holiday. I dont think there is anything wrong with coming home from a wedding to another invitation.

I'd send them out before! Resposes were the worst part of my planning. I got responses until the day before! Get them out ASAP before!

I would definately send them out before you go. I sent mine out on the two month mark and I wish I added a week...people are so slow in responding.

ALSO...I believe they have to be mailed on the exact date that the hand cancelling is done. I don't think you can have them hand cancelled and then mail them later. I could be wrong on this but I don't think so. Does anyone else know?

Thanks ladies, that's what I thought.

Kelly-I'm sure you do have to send them out the day they are hand cancelled. I would either do that on the 18th or the 25th.

I'm getting married August 17th, response date is July 10th and I send mine out last week. I would definitely send them out before leaving, and if you need time for head counts, I would send them out this week.
